There is a firmware upgrade to solve some of the quirky issues such as the 49.A### error codes associated with this and other MFP devices. Please visit hp.com and download the utility to perform the upgrade. This is free and will fix most issues associated with the 49 error.

Hi! I will be glad to assist you. If this is your issue, here are the steps you need to do:
HP LaserJet P3005 Printer Series - Service Error 49.0E00 when Printing PDF Files from Mac 10.5
A Service Error 49.0E00 message appears while printing PDF files from Mac 10.5 with the EconoMode setting enabled from the printer control panel and using the printing presets with the EconoMode setting disabled.
Disable the EconoMode setting from the printer control panel (the default setting is OFF ).
Select printing presets with the EconoMode setting disabled.
Try performing a test print from PDF files in the computer to check for the results.
NOTE: If it is required to use a printing preset with the EconoMode feature turned off, ensure that EconoMode is set to OFF from the printer control panel also.
