Question about 3Com OfficeConnect Router
I have a new 3com office wireless router.
My existing broadband modem, supplied by my ISP, has a USB "out" - this is hard-wired I have no option to change the cable that comes out of this modem :( The router, obviously, has no USB input.
Added to that, my main, desktop PC has no internal modem or network card - I've just been using the USB modem so far.
So - I need some new kit to get my wireless router up and running.
Can I get a USB to whatever-the-input-the router-takes (a not quite square network cable)? Or might I have to get a new modem?
Do I need a network card in my PC to plug the router into? I guess I could get some kind of wireless dongle - but the router's gonna sit next to the desktop PC anyway.
I am new too --may this trigger more people to help
from my limited experience
yes u need a NIC card in your pc
isp signal--->isp modem---->rj45 cable---->wireless (switch/access point/ Router--->NIC(PC)
---->wireless adapter (notebook)
nowaday with a Gigabit Nic
u can match 802.11b 11mb/s
i use verizon at first with PPPoE
later Comcast cable dynamic
u need to go to web site ip address assigned by DHCPof your 3com wless router to make sure or/and clone the router so that it has same MAC addtress as your NIC of your PC before u can get CONNECTED with the Web----(u can see the green display on the upper right of the screen of the router page after u get connected) dl

you might have a modem with an ethernet connection to connect to the net .
if you have a laptop you can choose a wireless usb broadband modem which can work on a desktop also once you recieve the modem just insert the modem into a usb port and follow the prompts you might need some drivers for the usb broadband modem which can be supplied by the ISP internet provider
hope this helps
