Sharp AR-M550 with a paper tray error F3-12

I am working on a sharp AR-M550 with a paper tray error F3-12. Tray 1(paper tray desk trouble). I took the cover off of the front of tray 1 so I could watch the elevator. The one on the right side works fine, but the left one does not move up. I switched out the drive motor and gears from the right side to the left. It did not help. I then switched the small board that has the two sensors on it and that did not help. I took the gearbox apart and watched the worm gear and it would not even try to turn when I blocked the sensors. The right side did turn.Someone please help. I have spent 3 hours on this one.

There is no service log. And I said in my post that I swaped all of the sensors, boards and motors from the 3rd tray. All of the gears are good.

Did you not read my post. I am a copier tech. I just don't know a lot about sharp. I am certified on minolta and kyocera. You did not read my entire post.

Hi there,
If the message "CALL FOR SERVICE CODE:**-**"(Note) appears in the touch panel, turn off the main power switch and the power switch, wait about 10 seconds, and then turn the main power switch and the power switch back on. If the message still appears after turning the main power switch and power switch off and on several times, it is likely that a failure has occured that requires service. In this event, stop using the machine, unplug the power cord, and contact your Sharp dealer.

Note : Letters and numbers appear in the "**-**". When you contact your Sharp dealer, please tellyour dealer what letters and numbers appear.

Hope this helps.
Have a good day.

When I first arrive to any service call the first thing I look for is the service log.

Locate the service log on the rear, side or inside the front cover.

Check the last error code and corrective action.

Hi this sounds like you may have a faulty sensor board, i assume the sensor you blocked was the upper limit sensor, if so then i would expect this to stop the motor, check the drive motor for bad or broken joints as this is quite common, also please trace back the wiring to the I/O board and check all the plugs ar seated correctly.

You can also run an input/output check on this machine to make sure the motors are turning correctly.

I suspec you have either a faulty photosensor, motor or seized lift, check the engaging drive gears for cracks.

When i try printing with my sharp ar-m205, it automatically reselect bypass tray and gives error "check bypass tray: out of paper or missfeed". But the tray i originally selected is tray 1.

Size mismatch between your print request and the size specifed for the paper in the tray. these trays do not auto-read, you have to tell the copier what size is in the tray

Make absolutely certain the correct size is specified for the paper in your tray, otherwise your print driver may be locked on selecting from the bypass tray and not set to 'auto select'
