Xerox DocuPrint P8 Laser Fuzzy Printing

All most every page I print is fuzzy or ghosted making the printouts unusable. I already tried changing the toner cartridge and the drum. What else could be the problem?

I'm having the same problem with my DocuPrint P8. I've shaken the existing cartridge, changed to a new cartridge, and repeatedly adjusted paper feed (in case a loose feed was affecting positioning). The one thing I haven't done yet is replace the drum, since I expect the cost to do that would be about the same as getting another printer of the about the same quality and output (and with more updated support).

The only variation I've observed is that sometimes the blurring is subtle, resulting in nearly legible text, and at other times the text is unreadable. I can't determine a pattern (e.g., time of day, first print vs. continued use, ambient temperature, etc.) that seems to affect when it's better vs. when it's worse.

Maybe a bad fuser . That would cause ghosting and reprint on the page

I have a problem with the colour prints...there are different kind of lines all over the page..how can i clean the laser heads?is there any automatically way?

Hi,
Dots, Lines and smudges on the printouts are due to deteriorating cartridges and cleaning the green drum of the cartridge may help temporarily. Take out the cartridge and gently clean the roller/ green drum with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth wiping off the toner dots marks/ lines. (corresponding to the location where you are having a green line on the paper)
Also, make sure that the visible inside of the printer is clean and there is no spilled toner inside, which sometimes results in dots.
Moreover, streaks (thicker lines) and dots etc indicate faulty PCR Roller which is located behind the green drum inside the cartridge. Replace the Cartridge or get the PCR Roller changed by a professional.
Try cleaning the toners and see if it makes any difference. You would also have an idea about the toner drum/ parts quality etc and check if they need to be replaced. Furthermore, issues with Laser Unit like dust/ toner dust on the lenses and mirrors inside the printer usually result in faded or discolored prints. For instance, faded text/ picture at certain areas or any color missing when you print.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Ghost printing

Hello,

You have a worn image drum. The drum is the part of the printer that the print image is created on before it transfers the toner to the paper. This part is coated with a very thin layer of Teflon so the toner does not stick. When it gets worn the toner starts to stick and that produces the shadow or ghost image approximately 3 inches down the page because the diameter of the drum roller is 3 inches. You will need to get the part DR-350, Office Depot has them as well as many places on the internet.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

What parts to be changed for making the printout clear? we have printed the demo page, however the middle par of the paper is quite clear, but not the top and bottom. is it the problem on drum or toner?...

yes probably ur toner is exhausted..
or drum is damp..
or the heater is faulty/defective..
also check the magnetic mesh roller..
do mind for a genuine refill and drum change (if necessary)..
seek a professional supervision esp. ur system admin/vendor....

Skipped Print Areas on Printouts

You may have a bad toner cartridge, if the cartridge has contaminants in it, it will not put toner on the drum in these areas, Try removing and giving the cartridge a good shake, try installing a new or at least another cartridge to see if the problem is here.

Hope this is of some help.

Laser jet produces printouts that are smudged and dark

Remove the toner cartridge and use a soft cloth to wipe the photo drum clean of toner. Put it back and try again, if you still get bad prints, then you need a new toner cartridge.

Dirty Background on Printouts

The most likely problem is not with the drum unit but rather with the developer unit and there is a leakage current within the unit causing the 'ghosting' on the printed images.

I would suggest that you replace the developer unit within the system. It is quite possible that the waste toner blade is contaminated with debris from using non-OEM toner within the unit. Therefore leaving residual toner particles on the surface of the drum.

Try this solution and see if that corrects your problem. This solution can be applied to virtually any laser printer, copier or MFP device in the industry. The problem is nearly 99% of the time related to CHEAP toner cartridges that are refilled or refurbished and the company doing the work does NOT replace the cleaning blades within the units, and they use a generic polyester-resin toner that does not conform to manufacturer standards.

I worked as a Design Engineer for Kyocera-Mita America for nearly 6 years and have seen this problem many times in the industry. The price you save on using recycled cartridges ends up costing you more when you have to replace a developer or drum unit.

Hope this information helps you out.

Cheers,

Keith

Dell 1600n has been ghosting lately

The 1600n AIO (all-in-one) is a laser printer. Laser printer use a statically charged "drum" to place toner on the paper. Your ghosting problem may be from the drum itself becoming too charged or simply dirty and not the cartridge. Servicing laser printers is tricky business because they use a lot of wattage/voltage to create the static charge and also "bake" the image onto the paper. A very quick fix would be to de-ionize the drum and clean it thoroughly.

First, make sure you have the unit completely unplugged for, at least, ten to fifteen minutes before proceeding to ensure that all static charge has had a chance to dissopate.

Second, remove the toner cartridge and place it on some newspaper or paper towels. Inspect it for any residual toner and/or damage that may be causing the ghosting (look for cracks/grooves/lines in the cartridge that shouldn't be there).

Third, take a used dryer sheet (or one that's had most of the chemical fabric softener rinsed off and then completely dried) and wipe the entire drum to completely remove any static charge. Then, using denatured alcohol and static-free, lint-free wipes clean the entire drum to remove any remaining detritus. Allow to dry thoroughly before proceeding.

Last, wipe the drum down, one final time, with a clean dryer sheet or lint-free cloth. Reassemble the unit and replace the toner cartridge.

Run a few clean sheets (blank prints or copies) to further remove any particles knocked loose and check for any more "ghosting."

Final printing will be necessary to check for inconsistencies or success.

Dell 3100 printer ghosting

Ghosting can be caused by two things. Either too much toner is being laid down which incurs a starvation of it. Or, the image is being repeated due to a problem with the drum. In your case, I want it to be the "too much toner" deal, because a drum replacement can definitely be more costly in comparison to a design change. Yet, if it is under warranty, the drum will be replaced at no cost.
