Question about Panasonic PT-53WX42 53" Rear Projection Television

Panasonic pt53wx42f high pitch whine noise

I recently received a pt53wx42f from a friend. it was moved about 40 miles in an upright position.

the tv seems to work pretty well after all that, no convergence issues as best i can tell

however, the tv did seem to pick up an annoying high pitch whine. it pretty high in pitch nearly dog hearing levels, but i can hear it.

the noise seems to go away if i switch to anything without a picture (ie change to an unused input, turn the brightness all the way down)

i had an old sony crt that did the same thing. jiggling the flyback transformer seemed to fix that one. i tried the same trick gently proding the boards in the panasonic, but it didn't seem to effect anything.

does anyone know what else might have come loose or be causing this noise?

I have a magnavox 37mf331d/37 that has developed a high pitched whine.the longer the tv is on the louder the whine.the tv is 5-6 yrs old

It's likely a capacitor associated with the power supply having gone bad.
It's obviously beyond your expertise to repair it yourself.
Find a trustworthy repair shop and take it there.

A noise had been gradually increasing from a grinding sound to a high-pitched whine. COntinues until the screen is completely off. Sounds like a fan motor may be out of lubrication.

THAT TV HAS WHAT IS CALLED A COLOR WHEEL WHICH SPINS AT VERY HIGH RPMS AND CAN MAKE HIGH PITCHED WHINING/GRINDING NOISES IF A FAN WAS BAD THE TV WOULD SHUTDOWN AND THE SOUND WOULD BE MORE DULL SOUNDING.

High pitched whining sound when vacuuming. Stops when handle is in an upright position. Thank you.

the high pitched whining is most likely the belt and it stops when you put the handle up because the roller bar is not engaged when you put up the handle. If it is the belt making that noise it will most likely break soon and you will need to put a new one on. Hope this helped...good luck

High pitched whine/sometimes TV won't turn on

The power supply on this model will whine when it is shorted or overloaded - the set would have to be brought in to determine exact cause.

Engine noise only when playing ipod through line in adapter

Did it always make noise or did it start recently? You need a ground loop isolator. That usually clears up the engine noise.

Panasonic TV

The power surge has caused a failure of an internal component. If it is making this noise it is possible the line output transistor has failed. I would advise calling a service repair centre & have someone there take alook at it. All being well this may be the only problem. Power surges can sometimes cause other faults.
