Question about Avanti EWC-12 Wine Cooler

1 Answer

Avanti EWC-12 circuit board replacement (correction)

Avanti sent me a new circuit board to replace that one that failed but they did not send instructions on where to solder the wires to the board. I can see where the red and black wires will go but am unsure of where the green and yellow wire is to be soldered. The board is a HYS60-12-KD V-0 130C. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

The colors of the wires were incorrectly stated on the last post. The red and black (power) wires were listed as red and white. The green and yellow wire was listed as two wires, green and white. It is actually only one wire that is green and yellow.

The green an yellow wire is a ground. Look for an area on the board with a ground symbol Avanti EWC-12 circuit board replacement (correctio - earth.gif. Can you not match the location from the old board???
Either way the black and red are your positive and negative power, while the third is the ground. The wire probably are located in close proximity to each other.
Let me know if this helps

Unfortunately you may need a new console circuit board. I have just replaced 3 for the same treadmill model. It seems to be a slight problem with this model.

There is a circuit board in this that you'll have to replace, and good luck finding the part. Most of these coolers were built as throw aways, meaning when it stops working you, throw it away.

Replaced flash circuits

There can be two schools of thought for this.

When replacing the circuit board in a flash, this means that the lamp, photocell, LCD display, and the switch pads are the old ones. I would guess the main power inverter board is being changed.

What usualy fails on this board is the main electrolytic capacitor. Not always, but other parts can fail. If it is only the main capacitor, this can be bought at most any major electronics parts distributor. You only have to specify its value in MicroFarids, the mechanical size so it will fit, the lead configuration, and the Voltage rating.

As long as the voltage rating for the new one is the same or greater, and the size configuration is close, the new cap would most likely work. This type of cap is not very expensive compared to the cost of a complete board.

If other parts are also defective on the board, it may be impossible to service unless the part is a generic type. If the part is an SMD surface mount type, depending on the configuration, someone who has SMD soldering tools can replace the part.

I have repaired about 80% of the problems in photo flashes. I only send them out if the fault requires a complete board change or factory calibration. With a new board, calibration will probably be necessary.

Bottom line for me: I would buy new flashes if I had to pay out more than 60% of the cost of a new replacement. But, that is my personal view.
