Question about PfaFF Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I have a pfaff creative 1471 and it seems like the pressure foot, when raised, then lowered, doesn't have the proper down pressure. It sticks in the up position, then when I pull it down, it sorta snaps down, but doesn't seem to hold enough pressure against the presser foot like it should. I would also like to remove the cover over it and am not sure what to take apart to get to that area so I can try oiling the shaft. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't believe no one answered you. I would highly suggest you take it in. From my searching around learning about the Pfaff 1471 I was just given. I found it is a very good machine and well worth spending well up to 500 to keep it in good shape. I just had to cut back on the extra I pay on my car payment just to pay the 150.00 tune up on her (ouch). But she runs like a dream now. The machine is so good I didn't even notice she needed it. What you seem to be saying wrong seem to be the most common thing I have read goes wrong with the 1471. I get there is a spring that gets gummed up. It should be replaced/cleaned and regressed by a pro. If its as common as it sounds shouldn't cost more than what I paid.

The flywhee on my pfaff 1471 seems to have disengaged after unsuccessfully winding a bobbin. The motor goes but the needle does not go. What to do?

Did you turn the knob inside the hand wheel backwards while holding the wheel itself? If that knob is in the correct position, did you hear it snap into place when you rotated the hand wheel towards yourself? Does the needle bar move up and down when you rotate the hand wheel?

I suspect that the needle bar is still disengaged from the motor mechanism. The manual is available from Pfaff on the creative 1471 page: http://www.pfaff.com/en-US/Machines/creative-1471 . The direct link to the manual is http://www.pfaff.com/SiteMedia/PFAFF/Products/Machines/Support-manuals/creative1471-manual-EN.pdf . See page 13 of the PDF for the picture of the direction and position of the knob that should be checked.

If the machine still doesn't work, it may be that the belt is bad. This connects the shaft of the motor to the mechanism that runs the needle bar. You can find a parts list for the 1471 here: https://www.universalsewing.com/tek9.asp?pg=parts_pfaff . Scroll down to find the various 1471 diagrams. The belts are probably available at most Pfaff or other sewing machine dealers. This page, https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/pfaff-1471-sewing-machine-parts.aspx , is one source. You want the motor belt.

I hope this helps.

Pfaff needle thread tensioner on a 1471 isn't adjusting properly. How do I gain access to the discs to determine the problem?

Install a brand new needle.
Remove the top thread from the machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread the top from the beginning.
Set the top tension to the midway point and try your machine again.

If there are still issues with the top tension and adjusting the tensioner isn't working, there may be gunk, lint or thread stuck in the tension disk. Remove the top thread. Set the top tension all the way to Loose. RAISE the presser foot. Dip a length of perl cotton in rubbing alcohol, squeeze out the excess, and then "gently" pull the perl cotton "DOWN" through the tension disk a couple of times. See if that helps.

Pfaff creative 7570 embroidery unit error message 'raise the presser foot lifter' won't clear even though it is raised?

I had this problem, but ignored it, go through the advised listing on the machine's screen, under 'pressure foot lifter' and see if anything can be adjusted.

I have a Pfaff Creative 1471 and the pressure foot is very slow to come down and then is not keeping the proper pressure on the material. How do I open the machine to see if I just need to clean and oil?

I have had my machine for many years and this is about the only problem I have had with it. I had taken it to 2 different repairs shops about 2 years ago and the repair worked only temporarily. The only reason I had not tried this solution before is that I didn't know how to get the side cover off to reach the mechanism. I just recently learned how and the oil worked like a charm after a little cleaning with a Q-tip. At least now if the problem reoccurs, the fix will be easy and free.

How do I remove the face plates on a Pfaff creative 1475 cd sewing machine so I can get inside to find out why the presser foot lifter is not working properly. It will raise up but it goes down slowly (not...

The plate is not screwed in, it is held tight by a couple of metal springs on each side. Just take a small regular screw driver and gently pry up the face plate. You may have the presser foot lowered by the switch on the right side of the bobbin/shuttle area slide it so the presser feet raise.

You may not be using the correct presser foot for your machine.

You may be using a low shank when your machine needs a high shank.

Pfaff 6122 Problem

Your machine just needs to be tuned up an the part inside that lower and raises the presser foot needs to be re-lubricated.  Lint, dust, dryness and the machine not being used can cause this issue with most pfaff machines (including my 7570).  A standard tune up from your local PFAFF dealer will remedy this.
