Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Scanner won't work

My computer has been working with the scanner and printer just fine, suddenly it will not scan. Nothing has changed, but now the scanner will not go through it's usual start-up routine, or do the "adjusting lamp" routine when I try to begin a scan. It is not "locked". There is no light, as well as no movement of the scanning bar.

    I have the same problem.

Have troubleshot endlessly and cannot find a solution.

  • Renee71 Apr 18, 2008

When I try to scan I get a message that says "waiting for lamp to adjust". The light is on, the bar won't move and I don't know what's wrong. I've had this machine for a year and now that I'm ready to scan, nothing happens on the computer or the scanner. It prints just fine. I paid too much $$$ to have to go through this.

I have the same problem scanning, whether I initiate it from MP Navigator or from the control panel of the computer. It keeps giving me the "cannot connect to computer, error 155.00". Also on the machine itself, it won't stop "scanning" (even though it isn't) until I shut the MP830 down. I get all the messages mentioned by others, and it works great printing, copying, and faxing. I'm on Win XP Home Edition. Thanks.

When I initiate MP Navigator, my computer gets stuck on the adjusting lamp phase. It does not move and no light adjustment occurs. After several minutes, and then gives me a scan failed with code 2,178,0

Lamp won't light, won't copy or fax. It appears that the scanning lamp is out.

The scanner just won't work (It used to.) The light doesn't come on, the bar doesn't move. I don't get any error messages. Everything else works as well as can be expected from this machine.

Brother control center 4 won't open on my computer

This may help others with scanning issues:
I just bought a Brother MFCJ6510 printer/scanner and was nearly driven cracked trying to get the scanner to work as it was not talking to the PC, even though as a printer it was working fine. Realised eventually that it was just the Brother Control Centre 4 it wasn't talking to. After hours of re-installing software and updates, etc, nothing worked.
The solution: I went into Control Panel on my PC (I use Windows XP), to the Scanners and Cameras section, and in there the Brother Scanner was visible and could be used from there, Click on it to open the Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard and use that. Further, by right-clicking on it and going to properties I choose the software to start when it talks to the PC. I abandoned the Brother CC4 and set it up to start the Scanner and Camera Wizard if I choose 'Scan to Image' on the scanner control panel, and to open Photoshop if I 'Scan to File' on the scanner. Works fine either way, just make sure you choose the right dpi setting to suit your needs.
Hope this helps somebody else as frustrated as I was.

In exactly the same boat. Navigator software worked fine for a long time, now it can't find the scanner driver. The only change I can identify is that I attempted to use Acrobat Pro for scanning and then nothing worked. Help!

Can't get scanner to work.

What you need to change is your screen resolution to either 800 x 600 or to 1024 x 768 (in your desktop settings)

You will NOT have to restart your computer either.
Just restart your scanner program and you can start scanning.

At least that's my assumption, though you might have bad cables, or an incompatible program.

Epson CX4200 scanner

1) In the program you are working from, begin the scanning process. If working in FULL AUTO MODE as the scan begins click PAUSE or CANCEL, then change "Full Auto Mode" to "Home Mode".
2) You will now see all Epson Scan settings displayed. If the scanner has not previewed automatically, click the large preview button to get a visual of what is on the scanner.
3) Ensure the settings on the Epson Scan are correct for what you wish to scan.

Scanner

Try scanning from the Kodak AiO Home Center software. If that fails, you should get better feedback. Unfortunately, I have run into this when my ink is low. While it should not matter, is does. Check to see if you need to replace a cartridge.
Good Luck.
