To reset your password go to facebook.com and click on forgot password in the upper right hand corner and follow the on-screen instructions. You will need to sign in to the email address you used to sign up for the account as part of this process.

I have tried to sign up to facebook and it keeps coming back with a message. "Sorry, you are ineligible to sign up for Facebook."

Your age is below 13? Facebook ensures that your age is above 13 in order to protect its customers. Easy way around this? Fake your age. Hard way? Wait.

I tried to sign my 9 year old son in and I cant get "not ineligable to sign up" off my sign in page

At 9 years old he's too young. Granted you could work around that by signing him up under your name, but then your subjecting him to the dangers of the online world were everyone doesn't play fair. BE VERY CAUTIOUS.

I am ineligible for facebook

Download Google Chrome. Open it. Click the wrench icon. Go to "New Incognito Window." From there, go to Facebook. Make sure you put in the correct birthday. You must be at least 13 to sign up.
