Question about HP LaserJet 3055 All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

Does HP LJ 3055 printer scan over the wireless network?

I have a small home office network. I have 3 laptops. 2 laptops with WIN XP and 1 with Win Vista. I have a Printer HP LJ 3055 also in that network. It is connected to a hub directly and hub is connected with the laptops through wireless network. Now the problem is I can not scan when the printer is in wireless network. But when it is connected on wired network, it scans properly. But if I set the resolution to 100 dpi and b/w scan, it scans properly , but If the dpi is increased to 150 and greyscale , it scans 3 pages and then stops. but if I keep the dpi to 150 and but in color, it says connection lost.
I am using Netgear router and helskins . Happned with both the routers.
How can I scan via wireless network using all the features , i mean using 250 dpi and color features with out losing connection? Does it support wireless connection ?

Scan over wireless network is not supported with this printer. You can try set it up and get scanner to work with usb and then change port from usb to HP standard TCP/IP for the device, but I don't think it will work.

How much trouble is it to convert our HP LJ 9050 into an M9050 MFP?

Basically, it no biggy...

1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the electricity and the computer.
2. Uninstall it's software/driver though: "Add or Remove Programs" (on Win 2k/XP); Programs and Features (Win Vista/7) - both within Control Panel. Restart is recommended.
3. Set up the new printer... Use the instructions included in it's package.
4. Install it's software/drivers (Don't connect it to the computer until you're asked to do so).
5. Connect the printer to the computer (if you haven't done so).
6. Enjoy your new printer! :)

I want to share an HP 7760 on an XP with Win 7

To get ahead of myself and answer your question first, your Win 7 machine may automatically load a driver for your shared printer.

Please have a look at the procedure below: (these instructions assume that your XP machine is sharing the HP printer and that your Win 7 laptop can "see" your network and the shared printer connected to your XP desktop computer)

On the Win7 machine, follow these steps:

1) In "Control Panel" click "Add local printer"
2) Create New Port > Local port
3) Port Name is "\\xpcomputername\printername" - without the quotes

(insert the XP's real network name and your printer's real name in the above location)

4) Click <OK>

5) Windows 7 should automatically load a driver allowing you to print on the HP connected to the XP from the Win7 laptop.

I hope this helps!

Did you define the printers and printer ports to the laptops?

On the XP laptop go to network connections in the control panel and use the network setup wizard.

Five computers networked with Linksys WRT320N router. Operating systems: Win 7.0 on 3 computers (two hardwired)(one laptop - wireless), Snow Leopard 10.8 on 1 (wireless), and XP on one (wireless). Also...

Sometimes this problem occures when you install a later model wireless router.
Try installing the latest Wireless card driver on the XP computer and the LAN card drivers on the other computers except the MAC.

Printer is connected via USB to a Win XP PC and prints fine. However will only print test print from networked Vista laptop?

I take it you the Win XP PC is on the same network that your Vista Laptop is on and that some how you must be able to share the printer through your XP PC?
I think you are experiencing the many issue that Vista has to offer.
Maybe think of actually seeing about placing the printer on a Network print server. This would solve your issue. I did this with my Brother Laser printer and it works great. I believe the print servers are coming down in price I am using a TRENDnet TP100 and it works great with my two wired network desktop PCs and the two wireless notbooks that both have Vista on them.
