My printer & computer are not talking to each other! The computer shows "spooling, printing, then it goes away. So I have changed printer "ports" not knowing what I was doing, so is that the problem? I have also tried unplugging it but forget which order to plug in -- USB first or electrical plug...PLS14043@aol.com

SOURCE: Printer causes Flash Drive and Ipod to not work

Even better connect the Printer to the USB hub and the Ipod to the PC. Its a better idea to isolate the printer. Also if you have another USB cable you can use for the printer that might help as well. There are some bumb usb cables out there.

SOURCE: Kodak G610 prints from docked camera, but not from the computer

it is advisable to use a recomended usb cable for your printer dock. you can try also to uninstall and reinstall the printer driver on your computer. just simply follow this steps:

Remove the drivers that your operating system automatically installed on your computer:
-- On your desktop, select Start > Settings > Control Panel > Printers & Faxes.
-- Remove all Kodak printers.
Right-click the printer icon.
Select Delete.
-- On your desktop, right-click My Computer, then select Properties.
-- Select the Hardware tab.
-- Click Device Manager.
-- In the Universal Serial Bus controllers list, right-click USB Composite Device, then select Uninstall.
note: make sure that the only device connected to your computer usb port is your G610 printer dock to make sure that the USB Composite Device that you uninstall is for your G610, most of the devices connected to you usb port has USB Composite Device also.
-- In the Imaging devices list, if any Kodak printers appear, right-click the Kodak device, then select Uninstall.
-- Disconnect the USB cable from your printer.
-- Restart the computer
-- Power Cycle the printer
-- once your computer is ready connect the G610 to your computer
-- check if you have a pop up window display on your computer informing you that your computer found a hardware device
-- you can go to printer and faxes and check if the G610 printer icon is on the list
-- try to make a test print

Verify that your computer is communicating with your printer:
-- Check that your printer is on.
-- verify if the USB cable meets your printer specifications.
-- Check that the USB cable and the power cord are securely connected to your printer and your computer.

SOURCE: I have a kodak 5300 printer. I recently had the

Reinstall your windows or 'Recover' or 'Restore' to an earlier date, perhaps to the original 'new' date.

Let the operating system find the drivers for your printer again, or install the right drivers for your operating system and printer combination, off of the website for Kodak.

Good luck.

Even since we install the edimax server, the printer will just halt and we have to reset the spooler again

Setting the location of the spool folder By default the spool folder is located at systemroot\System32\Spool\Printers. However, this drive also holds the Windows system files. Because these files are frequently accessed by the operating system, performance of both Windows and the printing functions might be slowed.
If your print server serves only one or two printers with low traffic volumes, the default location of the spool folder is sufficient. However, for high-volume printing requirements, to support large numbers of printers, or to support large print jobs, you should relocate the spool folder. For best results, move the spool folder to a drive that has its own controller, which reduces printing's impact on the rest of the operating system.
For information on relocating the print server spool folder, see Change the spool folder location.

To set up a printer to print to multiple devices
  1. Open Printers and Faxes.

  2. Right-click the printer you are using, and then click Properties.

  3. On the Ports tab, select the Enable printer pooling check box.

  4. Click each port where the printers you want to pool are connected.
Notes
  • To open Printers and Faxes, click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes.

  • With printer pooling, the printers must be the same type of printer using the same printer driver.

  • The previous procedure assumes the printers you want to pool are already in the Printers and Faxes folder.
  • Check for print jobs in que, this can cause the printer to spool if a print job is in que.

HELP PLS THE cartridge of my printer EPSON STYLUS T10 IS NOT RUNNING THE RED LIGHT IS BLINKING...

First try printing with the printer directly connected to the computer without any switchbox, Zip drive, scanner or any other parallel port device connected to the same port. If this is the problem then install a second parallel card for LPT2.

Make sure to use a printer cable no longer than 6 feet.

Next make sure your hard disk has a minimum of 30 - 50MB contiguous space available to spool the data to be printed. Run Scandisk to make sure there are no cross linked files and then run Defrag to see if your hard disk needs to be defragmented.

Your computer's parallel port must be set up properly for your printer.

* Check how LPT1 is set in your computer's CMOS/BIOS setup. It should be set to either Standard (SPP), Normal, or Compatible (contact your computer manufacturer/vendor if necessary).

* Check how LPT1 is set in Windows 95. If set to ECP Printer Port, you should change it to Standard Printer Port. An ECP or EPP port seems to cause some communication problems and out of paper messages.

Use the following steps to change the port type:

1. Click on Start
2. Go to Settings
3. Choose Control Panel
4. Double click on System
5. Click on the Device Manager tab
6. Double click on "Ports (COM & LPT)"
7. Click on the Printer Port (LPTx) to highlight
8. Click on Properties
9. Click on Driver tab.
10. Click on Change Driver
11. Click on Show All Devices
12. Click on Printer Port (not ECP) under the Standard Port Type for the manufacturer
13. Click on OK until you get out of the System Properties
14. Reboot Computer

Vista Printer problems - Printer not printing Test page or docs

You may have to change the communication format called the "Spool format."

Please follow the steps given below to change the spool data format:

1. Click on "Start," "Control Panel," "Hardware and Sound" and "Printers."
2. Then, right click on the Lexmark printer icon and left click "Properties."
3. Either on the "Advanced" tab or the "General" tab for some models, there is a "Print Processor" button, left click it.
4. This is the spool format setting. Under "Print processor" it should be set to "Lexmark 1200 series print processor." Next, under "Default datatype," select "NT EMF 1.008."
5. Click "OK" and exit back out to your desktop.
6. Please try printing again.
If this does not help the situation, please describe any differences it does make.

LP2844 printer only prints after reboot

not yet sure if this is a permanent soln- but i was having the same problem with my wirelessly networked HP L7780. it would queue jobs, but show the printer as offline and only print queued jobs during a reboot.
i went to the printer properties (as detailed by PABLOCSA) and _unchecked_ SNMP Status Enabled (as suggested on another forum). doing so immediatly started printing spooled jobs... but i'm not yet sure if this is a long term fix.

Printer will not print page 2 of a cancelled document, nor anything else since

you need to stop and restart your print spooler service. From the control panel, select administrative tools, then services. find the print spooler, right click and stop. then right click and start.

This should clear out the stuck print job. and free up the printer.

Printing takes a very long time

In this case you can bypass the spooler by the following steps:

1. Right click the printer icon & left click the printer properties

2. Click the Advenced tab in the printer properties.

3. Select the option PRINT DIRECTLY TO THE PRINTER & UNCHECK THE OPTION SPOOL THE DOCUMENT.

4. Click apply and ok.

5. Try printing.
