Question about JVC AV-32260 32" TV
Recently the tv is making the background music of a tv show louder than the words so that we cannot hear. turning it up only makes it worse as the background music gets more louder.
any suggestions? thanks.I have a JVC 32" TV (CRT type). On some shows like "Bones", & "Mystery", the background sound is so loud that it drowns out the dialog. Other shows are just fine. My TV doesn't have a surround sound setting.
Thank you, everyone! I thought maybe I was losing my mind. I can hardly watch a lot of the TV shows anymore due to the inappropriate use of music -- either it's too loud or there's just too darned much of it. Come on, TV producers! You are supposed to get better with time, not worse! Thank goodness I'm not alone.

Use your TV remote, go to "menu", then "Sound" or "Audio", then "other" - this should let you scroll down to "Surround Sound" - turn it "off". If you have surround sound - play with the remote speakers to control what you want to hear - this worls on Sony & Panasonic & many others.

I have noticed the same annoyance. It is OK when the narrator is a trained professional with a strong announcing voice . However when they interview a soft spoken person who has not been trained to have a loud booming voice ,their words are often covered over by dramatic swells in music. The only fix it can think of is to email or write to TV producers. I have sent two emails about the History network but to date they have been ignored. Recently it was on Greatest tank battles where elderly war survivors with interesting things to say were also drowned out by music. Maybe is more people complained or if a blog or if enough internet feedback developed, the people who lay in the music might listen.

Not possible to fix, per my geek brother-in-law. The real question is WHY are they doing this?
