Question about GE Dishwashers

1 Answer

I have a GE Potscrubber dishwasher which is about 13 years old. I recently experienced a problem when I ran the dishwasher I had water leaking onto my floor. In addition, the cycle had not used all the soap to clean the dishes, although the dispenser door was open, and there was water pooling in the bottom of the dishwasher. I ran it again and it worked fine, no leaking and the dishes were clean. I used it again later in the week and again no problems. Last night, I ran it and experienced the same problems. In addition, I left the water sitting in the dishwasher to deal with in the morning. And in the morning all the water had leaked on the floor again. I don't know if I need to call a dishwasher technician, a plummer or get a new dishwasher.

Hi,
The pump seal may be the problem. There are a number of places on the net where you can get step by steps and the the parts to replace the seal. Some recommend just getting a new motor pump housing which is 150. I just purchased the impeller assembly (it has all you need) and it cost $25 with shipping. Only thing is I did not realize I also had a leak in the solenoid stem valve. Let me know if you need the link I was talking about.

My GE potscrubber, model GSH942 (very old) is not working, as one of its part was fumed (burned). Though the dishwasher is old, it was doing perfect job. Kindly advise whether there is any hope to save it. picture of damaged part is attached.

How do you remove the sprayer arm from a GE potscrubber 600

Thought I had a problem with the spray arm or pump because water was not flowing enough to spray the upper rack. But it turned out it was a simple part missing: the "check valve" that is in the lower neck of the spray arm assembly. It's a $10 part. Part #WD1X5488 for GE Potscrubber 600.

My ge potscrubber 650 is leaking onto the floor in front of the dishwasher. What is the likely problem?

On ours, the leak was on the right side, and it turned out to be a failure in the seal around the soap dispenser.

Sink dishwater intrusion

Hello- Find drain hose from dishwasher under sink. Should have gooseneck ~ in hose run to keep water from getting back into dwshr. Does full sink drained all at once push water into tub? Sometimes stuff not disposalled yet blocks drainage. Older motors can tend to become weak with age, not pumping as much water out of tub as it used to.Anyway- Hope this helps- ED

I have a GE Potscrubber dishwasher that only hums, won't run

I have a portable that had the same problem. I called a repairman and he turned a fan blade on the motor. Mine is located on the right side about 12" in. It gets hung up when it is run often enough. If your problem is the same is mine all you have to do is turn the blade and it works like a charm. Hope this helps.

Dishwasher

GE 720 Potscrubber I started with the water puddling in bottom now it progressed to leaking on the floor. I had a repair guy come to my home yesterday and he says a broken seal and my total cost to replace seal and labor is $165 plus tax.
What is the life expectancy? He did not sound too promising about the future of my dishwasher and said he is certain there will be another repair need shortly something related to the water saturating an area underneath the dishwasher?
He reccomended I call Sears and replace with a Whirlpool product. He claimed he put his kids thru college repairing GE products. My husband wants to repair and I dont because of fear of spending more money!
