You shouldn't need to switch anything, you do however need an audio reciever with a digital audio in jack, that's all connect the d.a.o. to the stereo in the right jack, and you should be good to go.

Lg 42PG20 possible to work on a 220 volts?

The correct answer is "it depends on the power supply board used in it".

If you click on the picture at

http://www.coppelltvrepair.com/p/716/lg-42pg20-ua-power-supply-board-repair-service

and look at the lower left corner of the board you will see

100v-240V

printed in the lower left corner.

That board used in 42PG20 will definitely work on 220V.

Your TV may have a different board inside though.

DO not assume...verify.

Hope this helps!

Won't turn on for several tries

The most common reason for this behavior are worn out / failed electrolytic capacitors on the power board.

Those are easy to identify as they are usually bulged and easy to replace. We recommend to do it yourself and if you don't want to then find someone local, bring them the board and have them do it for a coffee or $20 at most (including parts).
If the problem is more complex you can use this:

We've also seen the same caused by a problem on the main board, but that is a remote second possibility. When it is, it's probably best to just get a replacement main board.

I have a LG 42 inch plasma that turned off and doesnt want to turn back on. im thinking is the sensor is there anyone that can help out with this problem?

If you can turn it on with the button on the unit itself then it may be the IR sensor, but if you can't turn it on then it is very unlikely the sensor.

The power supply board of the 42PG20-UA is a known source of exactly this problem, although definitely not the only one that could possibly cause it.

Below is a link for a repair of the board, but the listing also contains a link to an article on how to test the power supply board alone, which is pretty useful before spending time and money sending it for repair. If anything you can rule one board out:

There are several known issues that can cause that.

The top candidate is the main board, the next is the Y-Main board.

Here's a link for repairing the power supply board of LG 42PG20, which also contains a link to how to test your own board to see if it is good or not:
