Question about Danby DWC283BLS Wine Cooler

1 Answer

My Danby winecooler, the bottom part, white wine part, says "E3" and does not work. That is only after I unplugged it and started it again. Before that it went down to 32 degrees and froze a few of them! What now?

According to their manual (http://tiny.cc/winecooler) the only reason that the alarm should be on was already proven not to exist. Call their support number: 1-800-263-2629.

Received apparent error message "E3" for upper

E3 is a fan error. This is usually caused by poor connection to the fan. Remove all connectors and reinstall assuring tight connection. This should remedy it unless the fan is bad, which is very rare!

You may know this already, but for what its worth. There is a small switch on the bottom vent grill for on/off of light. Check there first.....

I want to switch the door swing on a danby wine cooler.

Yes, according to the manual, the other hinge was supplied with the unit. The phone number to Danby Support is 800-26-Danby.
They can get you to a supplier for the part.

I want the bottom to be reds and top to be whites

I don't think you'll be able to do this without some modifications to the unit.  The wine cooler is designed to blow cold air into the bottom section, and the top section cools down by spillover of cool air flowing between the glass door and the temperature control panel.
I guess if you could figure out a way to turn the panel that separates the top from the bottom you could make it work.  You'd have to switch the temperature sensing leads on the thermostat inside that panel(that would be pretty easy) and you'd probably want to flip the LED indicators so they read right-side-up.  The main issue would be that the screw holes for mounting that separator panel are all on the bottom, but when you flipped it, they would be on top with no holes in the walls to screw them into.  If you are willing to do that, you might be able to make it work as you would like.
Good Luck!

Danby DWC283BLS Wine Cooler - Error message E3 & E4

Is the compressor running? I don't know this unit, but know that if you are too warm that is the first thing to check. In reading about another unit that had a different problem, it was mentioned that there is a ciruit board. If it has relays on it then these are the most likely culprit. They are either not making contact or staying in contact too long... sometimes just tapping each relay usually a black plastic component will cause it to work intermittently..Not sure if you can get these but call the company help line at 1-800-263-2629.
