Question about Insignia 42" LCD Flat-Panel HDTV
Yellow is a composite output and should be plugged into a composite input, whereas Y indicates the COMPONENT input of the TV. If you don't have a separate composite input use a scart to phono (rca) adapter in your tv's scart input.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply and remember, even if you don't vote for me a please and thank you goes a long way.

You need one of the composite video inputs which are labeled Video 1 (side) and Video 2 (back) on the NS-LCD42HD. I assume the other Insignia TVs are similar. You may be connected to the Y input of the component video. Component cables carry video over 3 different RCA wires (Y, Pb, Pr). The component video will give better signal - it can carry an HD signal. Composite only handles SD signals.
The easy way to tell the ports apart is that the Composite video connections only have 3 jacks total - 1 for video (usually yellow) and 2 for audio (red and white). The Component video block will have 5 RCA jacks (3 for video (Y is blue, Pb is green, and Pr is red) and 2 for audio (red and white)). Component video cables are usually not included with the the devices but are available at many stores that sell electronics. Better prices can be found on-line since you do not need to buy "premium cables". The higher priced ones often do not give better pictures.
Use the input button on the remote or the TV to cycle through the inputs after you swap the cables around.
I hope this helps.
