WITH NEW STYLE FRIDGES IT IS NORMAL FOR THE DOOR TO POP OPEN .AS AIR INSIDE DOES IT.
When leveling the fridge make sure it is tilled back. The front should be higher. This will allow the door close

On the very lower side and on the very upper side there are hinges. Both the freezer and fridge doors are placed on this hinges. Also there is a magnet in the refrigerator door frame. The door gets close, when this magnet gets together. One side is magnet and other side is iron.So they hold each other when you close any door.-------- But as you mentioned that fridge side door open, when you close freezer door. This indicates , either the hinge is got bit loose or the door seal, under which the magnet is located is not closing properly.---------- Press the fridge side door closed with you hand and then open close freezer side door few times. And then see, if the fridge side door open when you release you hand.--------- Also as you mentioned that ice maker is making ice but its making it slowly, this indicates that any of the door is not closing properly, so inside the refrigerator is loosing it coldness. So inside it gets bit hot and due to that ice maker take long to from ice. Get the door fitting checked. The hinges, the door seals the door placement, may be any of the door got bit low due to loose hinge and due to that its not getting properly close, so inside temp gets bit warm.--------- If doors not closing and door seals look worn out then door seals are to be replaced. It has to be replaced by proper tech.---- Getting this possibility of door alignment and door seals and hinges checked will point towards the faulty part.----------

You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

The ice cube maker makes ice ok but the ice crusher is not crushing properly. The grinder area(teeth) seems to keep geting frozen (clogged) with ice.

The most common problem with this is the door/flapper is not closing snuggly. Usually a piece of ice holds it open but if this is happening all the time make sure the little ice door/flapper is closing all the way open the door and push it open and see how it is closing. If there is not water freezing on the left side of the freezer under the icemaker its self you have to have air getting into the freezer and usually its the ice door. good luck

Ice machine does not make ice

No guide that I know of .

Open the freezer door and see if the laser light on the right side , flashes twice , then pause , repeatedly . Close the flap on the left side , and the laser should stop flashing . If this is what occures , then the optics ( cut off of the icemaker ) are ok . If you open the freezer and no laser on the right , check the position of the "rake" inside the icemaker . Close the freezer door for about 1 min , and then recheck the position of the rake . If it hasn't moved , then the icemaker is bad .
If the light flashes 2 times then pauses , pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker , and check later , to see if the ice maker has dumped the cubes . If did not dump , replace the icemaker . If did dump , and did not fill with water , then the water valve behind the refrig is bad . Also check the black fill tube above the ice maker fill cup , to see if it is iced up , keeping the water from going into the fill cup . If it is frozen , then replace the water valve , due to seeping ( not closing completely ) , causing the slight drip , to freeze inside the tube .
This is the only guide I know of and it's called an experience guide .

Frigidaire FRT17G4BW9 doors not staying closed

Adjust the front legs of your refrigerator slightly to raise the refrigerator. and and store items on the freezer door shelves to add weight. This is a problem of pneumatics and a testament to how tight newer refrigerators are. When you close the large refrigerator door it compresses the air in the refrigerator compartment. Both compartments are connected by air passages and thus the pressure change is transferred to the freezer causing the freezer door to pop open.

Raising the front of the refrigerator a tiny bit will help both doors close from the 90 degree point, which is desirable. Adding weight to the shelf will just help the process.

An additional aid in self-closure will be to use vegetable oil on a paper towel to wipe down the hinge side face of both door seals. All these maneuvers should aid in causing the door to stay closed and re-close if it should open slightly. Good Luck

Side by side freezer door pops open

This is a problem inherent with lots of refrigerators. Side by side or top freezer. The rush of air pops the doors. You might want to adjust the pitch of the box by adjusting the front wheels to a higher level.

Ice forming where ice comes out to refrigerator

I am not sure if this is the same issue or not.  the flap that closes after you have dispensed ice does not close or seal all the way.  The gasket is worn down. the result is warm air get up into icemaker and warms ice and refreezes in one block so now the dispenser gets blocked.  We had to replace the flap in the door.  bought the part at an appliance part  store (not sears) they were helpfull and looked up the part needed.  Also a sheet of ice forms on the  bottom of the freezer.  When water is dispensed a small bit drips inside freezer in back and runs down to botom of freezer slowly forming a sheet of ice.  Use a hair dryer to defrost and then you must unclog the drain in the back at the bottom of ffreezer to allow it to drian.  Once we finally unclogged the drain we have not had any problems for about 2 years.

Icemaker making too much ice & Freezer frosting up.

Hi gpss,
It sounds like you are getting large amounts of warm moist air into the freezer. This can be caused by the door being left cracked open or the door seal not sealing properly. Check your door gaskets on both sides of the refrigerator. One other possible is the ice chute. If it is not closing all the way it will cause the same problem. You will get alot of frost forming in the freezer then it will melt when the refrigerator defrosts. Let me know if this helps, and if you have anymore questions.

Ice maker

pammytrent:

The icemaker only harvests / drops once the icemaker get to a temperature of Approx 15 Degrees.
Most manufactures Icemakers make approx 70 icecubes in a 24 period .

This can depend upon ambeint temp, use of product [opening closing of doors.
You will need to make sure the your condenser coil under the unit is clean.
Before cleaning disconnect power to unit first.
Air flow curculation in freezer can effect production also . too much food can restricting air flow, to little in freezer can effect ice production too .

hoping this helps

The ice coating usually means that your door was left slightly open. Did the ice maker work after you cleaned up the ice?

Ice Maker Making Noise

sounds like your icemaker is jammed.

first ofall just feel around the icemaker and see if you can find a peice of ice jamming it that you can remove. if that doesnt work heat it up with a blow dryer until any ice that is there will melt away and it will free up..

there is one other possibility: the stripper could be jammed against the side of the icemaker in which case you'll have to remove the icemaker from the refrig and unjam it..

hope that helps and good luck

Ice Maker Making Noise

I was able to solve this problem by doing the following:

1) Carefully (because there may be sharp metal blades in this area) reached into the upper left compartment of the icemaker and pressed down on ice cubes that seemed to be lodged there and were protruding slightly above the slots they should have been passing through.

2) Press down on the cubes, forcing them through the slots and into the cube container below

3) Lift the metal arm, remove and completely empty the ice cube container

4) Return the ice cube container to the freezer, making sure it is seated properly

Close the freezer and wait until the ice cube maker begins to make new ice cubes. The sound should stop in around 10-15minutes.
