Question about JVC DRMH20 DVD Recorder

1 Answer

Hi, there, I have the DRMH20S since several years. We had a power outage in our area and after the power came up again my unit is completely blocked. By this I mean the blue LED (HDD) and the green LED (DVD) are both "on", but the unit does not react to anything. So I suppose I need to do a general reset, but cannot find any info on resetting this unit. Any good advise? Thanks. Bernard

Hi, Ajin, Sorry for the delay.
Do you have any more details on which SMD ic you are referring to? Do you have any inputs on measuring voltages or other hardware checks? If not, how can I get this question brought forward to any of the other Guru's? Thanks. Bernard

Hi,

Try the following to reset the recorder
Remove the power from the wall out let and reconnect it after 5 minutes.
Press and hold the standby button, whlile holding the standby button press the STOP button for 3 seconds.
If this didn't solve your problem then there is some thing wrong with the main board. First of check the reset
ok

    hi,
So this is not a fault of reset. The system have problem inside. If you can oppen the recorder then remove the hard disk and then power on the system and check is there is any variation. If not then the power outage had made some problem in its system control side of the player . If so it is difficult to rectify by the user. As it contains SMD ic and need SMD rework station to replace components. You have to consult some electronic reparing shope near to you.
    ok

Our dryer does not function after a slight power outage due to an electrical storm. The number 88 blinks for a minute then goes to 18 . There is no response to the control panel , no buttons work!

brand and model numbers would be very helpful. without this info, I would try unplugging, wait about a minute, then plug back in. sometimes units can be reset by just cycling the power. Good luck.

Hi folks, used 2 of the phones for several years now, great phone with a character. The fix with the handset power units is absolutely working and should be tested before one gives up.
Also, I found out that cold temperature does influence or even trigger such outages of the base. We had two and both had a problem with temperatures of below 35-38 degrees. Sounds strange but we use it in a non heated office in the south, but when it really gets cold, the base can fail. Take a heater and
keep it warm. 15min later it works again!
If that and the power supply exchange does not work look deeper for a solution!

With a power outage - power surge - anything is possible. One or more board s could be bad. If you have insurence you might be able to get a servicer to say that it was a surge and your insurence compaony will replace your set.

Battery Back-Up not coming back on after power outage. Charged for several days without anything plugged in with trip button pushed in. Surge side still working. No beep light or anything on battery...

Does the unit have a breaker on the back? There may also be a fuse. You should be able to find a users guide on the CyberPower website.

If the unit may have failed during the power outage.

Hi my power in my house went out today. When I got home my computer is off, no lights no nothing. Help

Hi there,

Check if the power cable was properly plug into the power outlet.

If you are using a AVR, or a voltage regulator, double check if the unit fuse was not busted. Due to some power outage and any abnormal power input on your area, the fuse will be the to down cause this parts will be the one absorb the power failure and not directly to the appliance.

Let me hear from you here again.

Thanks

KDF70XBR950 red power light belinks 6 times repeatedly

Hi.

You have a power board error, and TV is in protect mode. This had been caused by the power surges.

Try leaving the TV disconnected from power (unplug cord) for several hours, or overnight.
This will allow PSU capacitors full discharge and can fix PSU fault after power surge. If it does not correct the problem , then there is a faulty component.
In that case the TV must be tested and repaired by a technician.

Regards.

After power outage remote not working.

Hi, this is a bit basic, try turning of for about 1/2 hour, to enable to discharge, then try again.
( I have used this on industrial installations, with far to complex computers stuff inside, and that mainly works)

Only 1 phone rings

There is a small battery inside your main control unit that keeps programming in memory during a power outage. The life of the battery is about 5 years give or take. When the system goes down for an extended period (or possibly several quick on/off cycles) your programming will be wiped out. By default, only a few telephones will ring. The battery is most likely a small blue 3-cell battery soldered right on the main board. It's not easily replaced. You can get a technician to replace it or hook up a standard battery backup unit (UPS) made for a computer. Your phone system uses less power than a computer so it can use any UPS and will last longer than advertised. Hard to say exactly how long. Just don't re-program the system until you take care of the problem or it will just default on you again.
