lol.. welcome to my world... I have my fridge set at the lowest without turning it off...IT FREEZES a gallon of tea in 5 days!! My freezer ices some.. its set at 3..(1-6).. BUT I like keeping frozen foods FROZEN.. I deal with the ice...

I have asked several repairmen.. they just guess...I am NOT going to spend money for something that is a GREAT Frig/Freezer.. better than TOO HOT and ruining food!!

Probably need to replace that temperature control. Also check damper. If manual, set to where less air is going to fridge.

Temperature setting/changes takes more than 2 hours to stabilize. If still running non stop after 24 hours use a digital thermometer to check the internal temp of refrigerator. If not cold enough it will not open the thermometer and turn off the compressor. Meanwhile, a 20 minute defrost cycle is about right.

Accuracy is important --Use a digital thermometer to monitor freezer and fridge temps. Fridge should be around 40 and freezer around zero and then take it from there and draw conclusions

you can not but perhaps you can try putting a kitchen knife in there to hold it open partially . I had a friend do that and then had to have the motor that controls it replaced by a service tech

Hello Racinfrogs,

You are most likely looking at a serious FROST blockage...

FIRST thing to check... YOUR DEFROST pan...

If dry... you have found your TROUBLE..

A serious FROST
blockage can be caused by SEVERAL
air intrusion issues... Ice cube stuck: holding chute door open... or a pizza box holding any door ajar... Perhaps even a failed (or poorly aligned) DOOR GASKET...

(all these will be burdening your defrost pan: lots of water)

FINALLY... and very common
(this will be manifested by a DRY defrost pan)

Easiest... Part to check & change

Your REFRIGERATOR has a defrost timer...
Check here for replacement part (wp67001036)

In addition to their instructions.. I always SUGGEST
you should take pictures and notes of what COLOR
wire goes where... BEFORE getting in trouble...!!

There are only 2 (two) other parts to the defrost circuit...
EASY once you understand...
- Thermal switch to keep defrost temperature v-low
- heater element (ungoverned can ruin food/plastic).

Hope this helps... ELSE comment me
back BEFORE getting in trouble.

Pricewise (using part number) also check eBay

Could be that your self defrost mechanism is not working and unit is freezing up and not cooling. Till fixed just defrost overnight and turn on next day. It will run fine for a few days till it freezes up again.

Probably need to replace open heater element. Go to sears web site for part number and then purchase it for less money on ebay.

Assuming you have active water supply to unit, either water valve or ice maker is bad. If Ice Maker is sending power to valve during Ice cycle, then valve is bad. If no power to valve during Ice cycle, then ice maker is bad.

There should be some kind of drain at bottom of freezer compartment to collect and run off any condensate that collects during defrost cycle.. Clean out the drain and snake out the line that leads from it. Right now the liquid is collecting where it should not and it will leak out the gasket when you have enough of it.

Contact manufacturer for its location,if any.

Thermostat might be stuck. My fridge stopped working recently and I hit the thermostat control a sharp blow with the handle of a soft-handled screwdriver and it started to work again.

I had to hit it several times over the next few days to keep it going until the new thermostat arrived but since it was delivered the fridge has been working normally...
