make sure the metal contacts for the one that won't reset are cleaned off and that you removed the plastic from the ends of the cartridge (usually pictured on the instructions for the cartridge) may have also gotten a bad toner cartridge.

Hi,Check to see in the connectioncables are all plugged in correctly.Open the printer and see if drumunit and toner cartridges are installed correctly. Sometimes not well installedconsumables are the cause of that particular problem.See if the print driver on yourcomputer is correctly installed. Try and reinstall the driver.Check if your printer is working in onlinemode. Sometimes printer changes online to offline method. If printer is atoffline mode click Start button on your computer, enter Control Panel. Click onHardware and Sound and choose Printers. Right click on Brother MFC-9840CWD andmake sure that the Use Printer offline is not checked.Hope this helps.

Go to control panel and printers and faxes on your laptop and when you see the printer icon for the printer, right click on it and left click on use printer ONLINE. make sure then that the laptop is communicating with the printer.

Hi there

Error 41 means there is a major problem with the printhead, usually
requires a print head replacement.

My advice is to take it to a
Brother service centre while if it is under warranty.

If it's out of warranty they are usually a throw away job, the heads cost as much as the printer.

Sorry I know what it feels like, just have a go and see what you can do, clean the heads and so on.

Quickest method is to delete the printer from devices and printers and wait about a minute and then select add printer, select local or network option, follow prompts on screen, reboot PC.

If printer has web services on board, then the drivers should auto download to PC from printer. It may take a few minutes.
Through the web services link under properties you can go in to the user interface and turn off auto-off or auto-off line options, or change the times it takes to go off.
