An adult single mattress is around 53 on 75 inches.

A couple king size mattress is around 76 on 80 inches.

Most people cannot afford to buy a new mattress when they get pregnant. I suggest buying yourself a mattress topper; which will give you an added layer of comfort. I would recommend a memory foam topper so that it can mold to your body no matter what position you sleep.

Best advice I can give you for mattresses, it work out your budget and then add 50% and work out how to pay for it. Test all the beds in a good mattress shop. I favour Relyon, by appointment to the Queen of England. I bought one for 850 GBP in 1987 and it was still as good as new 15 years later and best nights sleep I have ever had. I wish I brought it to Canada with me!

Most mattresses are held higher from the ground with the placement of a box spring/platform. Futons are rested on pliable wood or metal frames. Most futons are filled with materials that maintain spring such as high-density foams.
