Sounds like the gear that rotates the cd tray it stripped. Another possibility it that the lithium grease is drying which with make it stick. You can fix it that’s the problem, unplug it, take the cover off and use q tips to wipe off the dry grease and using q tips put some new lithium grease on the gears. Very lightly and don’t get cotton stuck in there

Very easy to fix. If you want to DIY, just send an email to me This is a very common faulty found in Onkyo av-amp. You may think it is weird. I must tell you, however,I buy faulty av-amp to repair and sell them out. Hence, I will not tell you here. This email will be deleted after 1 week.

Try cleaning the end of the batteries and if they aren’t new change them, which I’m sure you tried. Take a clean rag and put a little alcohol on it and wipe the connectors for the batteries. Sometimes the contacts oxidize which can cause an invisible barrier between the batteries and the contacts. If all else fails, tap it on a table or something, not super hard. I hate to say it but that works with mine....hope this helps. I with they made better remotes
