Communication error error code :2100012c how to fix

Epson Stylus Pro... | Answered 17 hours ago

The cleaning unit may still be engaged with the cartridge carriage. There may be a release mechanism on the side of the cleaning unit. The cover will have to be removed to see if that is the case. Another cause could be that the shaft or rail that the carriage travels on is quite dirty. It can be cleaned with alcohol to remove the dirt. That might be what is loading down the motor. Good Luck.

I have solved this problem on my sx515w. I hadn't used the printer for a while and when I did after about 3 months the black wouldn't print. Even after trying several different new cartridges, driver reinstals, updates, automatic head cleaning operations..... It turned out that the printer head had ink dried onto it due to lack of use.

What you need to do is to drop a few drops of nail polish remover (yes as in Acetone solution) on to the foam cleaning dock, located to the far right of the printer rail. When the printer is resting, the ink jet module covers the dock. TO expose the dock, set the printer to the 'clean head' operation and the ink jet module will go to the far left, when this happens pull the power cord out so it stays out of the way (don't worry the printer will reset fine afterwards). So now the module is out of the way drop in some cleaing fluid on to the sponge dock. Then you are ready to run the automatic clean head operation at least 20 times. Do a test print each time until full print quality is resumed.

Oh and it is worth cleaning the sponge dock with tissue as it gets heavily soiled with ink (using the 'clean head' - turn off half way operation just described above). Remeber to replenish the nail polish remover. This should sort it.

Yackshimash.

Cheers

This error is usually shown when using the AdjProg to try to reset the waste ink counter.

The error code is caused by one of the following:
1. More than one Epson printer is connected (turn any others off)
2. The utility can't connect using the "Auto" setting for the printer "port" (Select the specific printer port using the "Select" button).

This issue is covered with other AdjProg errors in this article

If your Epson 9880 stylus pro printer displays a 0001000c error code on the control panel screen, then it indicates the PG home position detection error. The printer might display this error and stops printing when it fails to detect the PG home position during the power-on initialization process. This might also occur when the platen gap changing operation is performed after loading the paper.
The main causes of this issue are provided below.
The PG HP Sensor connector might be disconnected from your printer.
The printer would have been disconnected from the Pump Motor connector.
Check if the Pump Motor harness is broken.
See if there is a PG HP Sensor failure.
Otherwise, check if there is a pump motor failure.
Make sure the PG drive gears are not damaged.
The motor driver's fuser on the main board would have been blown.
Follow these steps to resolve the issue.
The Pump Motor connector or the PG HP Sensor connector should be securely reconnected.
Try replacing the PG HP Sensor and the PUMP CAP ASSY. After replacing them, check if the problem is resolved. For Support Call Our Toll-Free 1-866-293-9220

Cleaning the Print Head

r_bullet.gifUsing the Head Cleaning utility
r_bullet.gifUsing the control panel buttons

If you find that the printout is unexpectedly faint or some dots are missing, you may be able to solve these problems by cleaning the print head, which ensures that the nozzles are delivering ink properly.

You can clean the print head from your computer using the Head Cleaning utility in the printer software or from this product itself by using the control panel buttons.

r_note.gifNote:r_space.gif

  • Print head cleaning uses both color and black inks. To avoid wasting ink, clean the print head only if the copy quality drops (for example, blurred printout, incorrect or missing color.)
r_space.gif
  • Use the nozzle check first to confirm that the print head needs to be cleaned. This saves ink.
r_space.gif
  • When the Error light is on and a message appears on the LCD panel to prompt you to replace the ink cartridge or to indicate the ink is low, you cannot clean the print head. In this case, replace the appropriate ink cartridge first.

Using the Head Cleaning utility

Refer to the appropriate section below to use the Head Cleaning utility.

For Windows

Follow the steps below to clean the print head using the Head Cleaning utility.

r_1.gifMake sure that A4 or Letter size paper is loaded in the sheet feeder.

r_2.gifMake sure that this product is on and the ! Error light is off.

r_3.gifAccess the printer software.r_arrow2.gifAccessing the Printer Software for Windows

r_4.gifClick the Maintenance tab, then click the Head Cleaning button.

r_5.gifFollow the on-screen instructions.

Head cleaning... appears on the LCD panel while this product performs the cleaning cycle.

r_space.gifr_caut.gifCaution:r_space.gifr_space.gifNever turn off this product while Head cleaning... appears on the LCD panel. Doing so may damage this product.

r_6.gifWhen Head cleaning... disappears from the LCD panel, click Print Nozzle Check Pattern in the Head Cleaning dialog box to confirm that the print head is clean.

Good: print head does not need to be cleaned yet.

Not Good: print head needs to be cleaned.

If the nozzle check page does not print satisfactorily, you may need to repeat the head cleaning and print the nozzle check pattern again. See Cleaning the Print Head.

r_note.gifNote:r_space.gif

  • If the copy quality has not improved after repeating this procedure four or five times, turn this product off and leave it alone overnight. Then, perform the nozzle check again and repeat the head cleaning if necessary.
r_space.gif
  • If the copy quality still has not improved, one or both of your ink cartridges may be old or damaged and may need to be replaced. To replace an ink cartridge before it is empty, see Replacing an Ink Cartridge. If the copy quality remains a problem after replacing the ink cartridges, contact your dealer.

  • To maintain good copy quality, we recommend copying a few pages at least once every month.
