I am not familiar with this model.
Generally when you have wires heating up it means there is too much resistance in the system.
This can be caused by loose or co?roded wires, a bad starter solenoid or a bad starter.

your opinion is that oil is too strong to shoot into the trotthle body

Harley Davidson... | Answered on Sep 08, 2019

Hi Tamara,
possible cause is the connector on the side of the throttle body. This connector will be facing towards the rear of the motorcycle just behind the air filter box. Disconnect it and spray a good quality switch cleaner with lubricant into the connector or use the HD contact grease and put a small amount into each contact hole. Then insert and remove the connector a couple of times before finally leaving it in position. I have got this fault a few times and this proved to be a cure.

Sounds like it is operating as it should now. Maybe it was a software update. Why would you want to risk starting it in gear?

The FXR had the same front fork tubes as the Sportster. Harley-Davidson Type "E" fork oil is recommended. The fluid capacity dry (after disassembly) is 6.4 ounces. The fluid capacity wet (drain and refill) is 5.4 ounces.

Good Luck
Steve

Hi, Randy the starter clutch is a separate mechanical gear driven component that is activated by the starter motor, it engages the clutch pack ring gear to turn over the engine. It has an internal mechanism that allows the gear to turn in "ONE DIRECTION" only and once the engine starts allows the gear to free spin with engine rotation. If the starter gear free spins in "BOTH DIRECTIONS" then the drive gear has failed, it is not serviceable and needs to be replaced.

Hi, Craig and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at the ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty pulse coil.
8. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
9. Faulty ignition switch.
10. Faulty run/off switch
11. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
12. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset
