Maytag Washing Machines - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

It sounds like the clutch has seized. Have a look under the machine, a telltale sign is lots of brown / black greasy marks all over the inside of the cabinet and on the floor. If the machine is still spinning but "ratchetting" on wash, it is the clutch that is not releasing.

I DON'T KNOW. PLEASE CHECK FUSE OR CIRCUIT BREAKER FOR WASHER. IF OK, MOVE BREAKER TO OFF AND ON A FEW TIMES. LOOK TO SEE IF YOUR WASHER CONNECTION IS A 110V PLUG THAT IT IS
FIRMLY PLUGGED IN. THE DOOR SWITCH MAY BE LOOSE OR HAS FAILED. IF POSSIBLE LEAN ON THE
DOOR WHEN CLOSED TO SEE IF PANEL COMES ON.

I am not familiar with the model but the lid switch typically would have nothing to do with preventing the programmes advancing; the lid switch is typically a safety device to prevent personal injury to the unwary by denying them access to moving parts.

Your description indicates all the aspects of the wash functions are present and working which indicates the problem probably lies with the main controller.

Lid closed safety switch is bad.....it must be in a normally closed condition to go to spin and rinse cycle.....You can jumper the switch........That will allow spin with lid open so be careful..............

Hi Kim, what you need to do is lean the washer back to see where the leak is coming from. It could be a split hose or a damaged tub. You could also have a bad tub seal. If it's not easily visible, you may need to call a local repair company. Hope that helps.

Hi JR,you have a bad tub bearing. Replacing the tub bearing is a complex job as it requires dismantling the whole tub assembly and replacing the tub bearings and tub seal. I would recommend calling a local repair company to get an estimate for the repair. It may be more than the cost of a new machine. Hope that helps.
