Sounds like an internal fuse has blown. There are several guides on the net, and a couple forums discussions. Try here:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/375875

google it up - if you're not happy repairing it yourself (which needs just a multimeter and a hand full of small, generic fuses) then you'll need to get it professionally mended. which could cost you more than simply buying a new one.

Sounds like the GPU might be overheating or the drive lens is slightly off, you will need to get it fixed and if you do not want to have to send it in you can fix it yourself with a good guide.

Or of course you will have to send it in.

Zilla This may not be an issue on your side. Try the following, if it still doesnt work read what EA told me .. LOL First, please check to make sure that your PS2 is connected directly to your Cable or DSL modem. If you are using a router, check to make sure that the router you're using is official supported by Xbox Live. Now if your DSL or Cable modem connects directly to your PS2 already, try power cycling the modem itself. This means unplugging the modem from the wall, waiting one or more minutes and then plugging it back in. Restart the system and try again. If at this point it still does not work, check to make sure that the ports specific to Xbox Live are opened up on your Internet Service Provider's end. These are the ports that need to be open in both incoming and outgoing directions: UDP Ports: 88 & 3074 TCP Port: 3074 NOW This can also occur if you are using a Gamertag that was previously linked to another EA account. Most often, this occurs when someone creates a Gamertag and links it to an EA account, but then has their Gamertag deleted. The Gamertag then becomes available for another player to use, but is still linked to the EA account in the EA system. When this happens, the server looks to verify against the old EA account and fails. The most common errors recieved are: 'An EA Server is not available at this time.' 'The EA Servers are currently unavailable.' Although a more comprehensive solution is being looking into, you can get into the game immediately by creating a new Gamertag to link to your EA account. If the Gamertag is not already linked to an EA account, you will be able to link it and play without issue. If you would like to be alerted of any new information concerning this issue, please use the Notify EA on this link (http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=11681&p_created=1143153073) Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts games in the future please visit our website and review our extensive Self Help knowledgebase (http://support.ea.com). Now I did this and it worked for Madden and Battlefield for 1 week then it happened again. Heres what EA told me. Thank you for contacting EA technical support. I am sorry to say that we are experiencing issues with the BF2:MC servers at this time. Connectivity and clan features are there but you may experience sporadic availability to getting into games. As for filing incidents, "unresolved," means exactly that. This incident was not solved. This is no means of brushing a problem aside. I apologize if there is a misunderstanding. We plan to have these issues resolved as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused for the time being, and thank you for your patience! Please respond back if you have anymore technical issues concerning this matter. Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts! It's the multitap, yours is designed for PS1 games, and PS2 and PS1 games require different multitaps. You have to buy one specifically for PS2.
