The little bucket is to collect water which normally condenses from the air in the fridge as it cools. [This is because each time you open the fridge, warm humid air comes in to replace the drier cooler air inside. Warm air can carry more moisture than cold.] The container is usually placed near the compressor so that the warmth will help it evaporate into the room. But if something in the fridge has spilt or leaked then it will find its way to the container, hence the smell!
I suggest a good clean out of the whole fridge. Be careful as you remove the shelves and/or drawers, and do not scratch the surfaces inside the fridge. If there is a lot of ice, you might need a bigger container behind to catch all the water as the little receptacle won't hold it and it will spill onto the floor.

Hope this was helpful. If so please leave a comment, thanks.

A flexible curtain wire is probably the best implement for clearing a fridge drain and I have been defeated only once - an unusually long drain that had suffered damage half way down where it was completely inaccessible without removing the liner from the cabinet.

based on how my icecream maker works
the two plastic cup looking containers are placed in a freezer without anything in them
leave overnight for about 8 hours
then take out of freezer and put ice cream recipe - liquid stuff
then ice creea maker churns liquid and freezes liquid from cold previously frozen plastic cup thing.
turn on churn function first before adding liquid stuff or it freezes too quick.
once it is churned to ice cream put it into a contain and place container in freezer
Ice cream is basically cream, sugar or sweetened condensed milk and flavor (artifical flavoring or by adding fruit puree or cocoa or choc chips)

You posted in "refrigerators" so presumably your post is about a fridge - with a fridge the compressor is the machine so your claim the machine runs but the compressor does not hardly makes sense, perhaps you would post again and try to explain...

If the coils are icing along with the other faults it means you have a gas leak. Cheapest way out of this is to get a new frig.

EO code is power failure code. Disconnect breaker or remove fuse for 20 minutes to reset. Frige should respond to this procedure - try a couple of times if no success 1st time.
