2005 Peugeot 307 1.6 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

The bearings in the electric clutch are either going bad or it has collected dirt/debris inside of it. Grab a can of WD40 with the spray straw and aim the tip of the straw into the gap on the A/C drive pulley (there's one part that spins and the centre part that is static) Apply a liberal burst of WD40 and then start the engine and listen for the noise. Fingers crossed the noise will dissipate completely (*this may only be a temporary fix)

How To Test For A Car Battery Power Drain
Hi , A fully charged battery is 12.6. The link below is a short you tube video on how to find out if a car battery has a power drain, The video starts with the guy loosening the negative lead to the battery then turns the multimeter on and sets it to 20 DC, plug bottom of lead to current mode and places 1 multimeter lead on top of the terminal inside the negative lead and the other multimeter lead on the negative lead and wiggle the negative lead off the battery, The current being drawn from your battery should be less than (5.0) 50 mille volts..... The reason he takes the negative lead off after connecting the multimeter this is to save any codes from the car as technically the battery isn't disconnected..... CHEERS..

Hi Kate

This is rarely a cheap fix as it is likely your head gasket has blown.

You need to check the brake switch first, Have a mechanic take a look if you're not so inclined.

Apart from fitting the wrong bulbs the most common tail-lamp cluster problem is faulty earthing. This might be due to damage wiring but is usually dirty or oxidised terminals at the plug or bulbholder or in the construction of the lamp.

I suggest you begin by bench-testing the lamp with a live and earth that is independent of the car and then if all is well move on to check the integrity of the lamp earth of the vehicle.

I have a feeling the lights could be driven by a multiplex system (local black box or ECU) and it is unlikely the lights will work correctly if they aren't drawing the correct current.

If the lamp bench-tests ok and the plug and socket are clean and the lamp earth is good and it still doesn't work correctly the fault is likely to be in the wiring or the multiplex system if the car has one.
Good luck!

That is a bad or improper brake or accelerator pedal signal. You must determint which of the 2 is the problem and either replace the switch or troubleshoot to determine if the wires have been disconnected.

Good Luck!

First thought is that if you have a judder from the brakes you may have a warped front disc. The ABS system sensor may be picking this judder up and converting it to a fault.
A warped disc would spin and catch then spin and catch again rather like the rapid on/off braking that ABS does. This 'could' be the judder you feel and should be especially noticeable when braking and barely noticeable when driving with the brakes completely off.

the condition you have experienced is called brake fade . It occurs when there is insufficient brake pad to adsorb the heat generated buy the changing of the kinetics energy (spinning) into heat energy by the friction of the brake pads on the disc rotors.. It gets to a point where the pads and discs will not take any more heat so when that happens it does not matter how hard you push the pedal there will be no brakes. To prevent this happening again fit new brake pads and fit new disc rotors. If you are going to be doing steep hill work then get a brake pad suitable for hard work. Talk to a brake shop specialist to get the best pads for the job. Another experience that you will have is when the brakes get hot the pedal goes to the floor. This comes from bad brake fluid and happens when the brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air and the boiling point of the fluid is lowered considerably. The oil boils and the water in the oil turns to steam and you get vapour lock in the system and you will loose brakes as you are compressing steam or air.. The fix for that is to ensure that you change your brake fluid every 12 months.

I'm pretty sure the radiator fan on these is controlled by a thermostat and will therefore normally operate only when required hence coming on and turning off at will. It is also not unusual for the fan to remain on after turning the engine off. If you sit and wait a few minutes after turning off the engine the fan will shut down eventually.
