Could be a problem with the crank sensor which tells the engine ecu when to fire the spark plugs, common fault. Try holding accellerator pedal to the floor while starting, can flood with fuel, was a modification on some models to reduce fuel flow a while back.

I have a 2006 525i and need to clear my indicator as well. From my understanding, we need to buy an OBD II scanner that has the capability of "erasing" the DTC's (diagnostic trouble codes), as well as the I/M Monitors (Inspection/Maintenance) from the computer module(s). Currently, I'm looking at purchasing the Actron CP9175 for 89.99 on nextag.com. It is a very good price for what it can do. Otherwise you will be looking at getting charged a large chunk of change for BMW to perform it. Enjoy BMW insp. reset -Ingnition OFF (pos 0) -Press and Hold the trip odometer button while turning key to position 1 (accessory) -Keep the button depressed (about 5 secs.) imto; upi see "Oil Service" or "Inspeciton" with "Reset" or "Re" in the display -*Note: ON vehicles with "High" cluster, you will also see the amount of fuel (in litres) remaining until next service -Press the button again and hold for approx. 5 secs. imto; :Reset" or "Re flashes -While the display is flashing, briefly press the button again to reset the Service Interval. After the display has shown the new interval you should see "END SIA" for about 2 secs. Note that if the "Reset" or "Re" does not flash, then you have not met the minimum consumption level and cannot reset. 2001 up to 2003 for shure don't know about any other models, where i found this it said 2001 to current but not shure when it was posted. Thanks

brake light switch should always be just under the pedal but may reside higher up on the firewall but just remember that the pedal operates a switch to allow the whole thing to work ...so it should always be just under the pedal if in doubt press the pedal use a flashlight if need be and see what it operates ..should look and work lust like that of a pen when you click it i hope this was a clear explanation on what to look for

The EH gearbox switch serves to communicate with the TCM (Trans Control Mod). In A mode, it tells the TCM to operate in the most economical shifting program. M mode is for manual shift. If you have a * instead of a M, it stands for winter mode. This mode causes the vehicle to start off in 2nd so that torque is reduced thus reducing wheel spin on slick surfaces. Of course, by shifting into 4 or 3 puts you into sport mode for a more spirited shift pattern.

First thing I would check is the fuel pump...Without starting the engine - what do you hear when you turn the key off and on?

Wait a few seconds between turning key off/on...you should hear the pump run and then stop; this is the pump reaching fuel pressure.

If the pump is not running; check fuses.

If fuses are good, check for restriction in the fuel line...posibble clogged fuel filter.

The adjustment screws/nuts should be located either on the top of the headlamp assembly, behind the headlamp assembly, or near the frame rail by the radiator support.

You will have vertical adjustment screws for each independent beam (separate highs and separate lows, but will be same screw if highs and lows are the same bulb). You may also have additional horizontal adjustment screws as well

Park your car on a level ground 30 feet from a wall and measure the height from the ground to the bulb and mark on a wall (do this for highs beams and low beams if the bulbs are separate, if highs and lows are the same bulb, only do it for the lows)

For Low Beams: If the headlights read VOR, then aim the brightest part or cutoff part just below the mark on the wall. If it says VOL or nothing, aim them 2 inches below the mark on the wall.

For High Beams (if separate from low beams): Aim the headlight directly at the line you marked on the wall.

There is a procedure to open the doors in a lock out. You must pull up on the driver's door handle then insert the key and turn it counterclockwise while at the same time pulling the key as if you were trying to pull it out. You will be met with a lot of resistance but the lock will open provided your actuator is not froze. This is a tricky procedure and will no doubt take several practices to be able to pull it off. Good luck!
