i have a 1997 Camaro 3.8 v6 and my temp gauge constantly fluctuates from 185 to nearly 235 then back down again. when i turn on the heater it alternates blowing cold air and hot air with the temp gauge (when the temp is high heater blows cold, when temp is low heater blows hot)

Definitely check your fluid level in your radiator. Top it off all the way. I've seen that happen multiple times on cars that were low on anti-freeze. If that doesn't work try replacing your thermostat. It's cheap and the easiest place to start if topping off the fluid doesn't get you fixed up.

I have a 97 maro 3.8 that has never ending trouble!passenger rear and both front turn signal dont work.dash light stays solid for the right side and blinks normal on left side.radios and certain interior lights have quit working before but im not sure if it was blown bulbs and a faulty radios(cheap beat up stereos were installed hasn't happened recently with new quality one).this camaro seems to have many elec. problems in many different forms.is it sockets, relay, unknown, or a crazy elecrical part.help!!!thanks in advance.

sounds like two problems. the front turn signals operate through the drl module. It's behind the radio. if you cut and splice the dk. blue to dk. blue w/ white, lt. blue to lt. blue w/ white on the black connector it will bypass the drl but all other functions will work. some say to disconnect the blue connector to bypass however this will discontinue other features, e-brake indicator, rear hatch button, ect. As for the rear light, i would check the rear lamp harness connector behind the interior plastic drivers side for power on the right signal feed and the splice ground.

my 97 chevy camaro driver side window (power) will not go down or up when i push the window button all it does is make a noise what could the problem be?
Posted by tucker1149... on
pull off the door panel and make sure the motor is turning and there is nothing blocking the window from going up or down the motor might be burnt out but the switch is still clicking the relay on and make sure you spray the gears and window wires not the electrical wire with white lithium greese

1997 Camaro is overheating. I have replaced both the Water Pump and Thermostat and still overheating
what do you mean by overheating? puking coolant out? or just high on the temp gauge. the rad fan should come on if the a/c is on. if the a.c is off, the fan doesnt come on till 220f or so. when the fan is on, there should be "roasting hot" air blowing through the radiator, if not the radiator is not flowing coolant.

power locks check fuse and relay.take car to dearlership.they have to check your theft deterrent module.when its in security mode.your problem could be it cant read the chip on ignition keys or the theft deterrent module is failing.not a home fix.

how do i replace a 97 camaro key, and how much would it cost?
Posted by tanhow81 on
This camaro key has a chip on it it's call vats if you just want to replace the key you need to find out wich vats # it is, they are 15 different keys most of the locksmith places have vats key reader and the key may cost you about $25.00 if they do it,if you need the switch you can get it at auto Zone it comes with a regular key about $45.00 and you duplicate yours vats key with this one, hope this will helph.

P0113 - Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input
What does that mean?
The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the temperature of the air entering the engine. The PCM supplies a 5 volt reference voltage to the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. The IAT is a thermistor that varies resistance based on temperature. As the temperature increases, resistance decreases. Low temperature results in a high signal voltage. When the PCM sees a signal voltage higher than 5 volts, it sets this P0113 check engine light code.
There will likely be no symptoms other than illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL - Check Engine Light / Service Engine Soon).
A code P0113 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* Internally failed IAT sensor
* Faulty connection at IAT sensor
* Open in IAT ground circuit or signal circuit
* Short to voltage in IAT signal circuit or reference circuit
* IAT harness and/or wiring routed too close to high-voltage wiring (e.g. alternator, spark plug cables, etc.)
* Faulty PCM (less likely but not impossible)
First, if you have access to a scan tool, is there an IAT reading? If the IAT reading is logical then the problem is likely intermittent. If the reading is less than -30 degrees, unplug the connector. Install a jumper wire between the harness connector signal and ground circuits. The IAT temperature reading on the scan tool should be maxed out at the high end. For example it should be 280 degrees Farenheit or higher. If it is, the wiring is okay, and it may have been the connection. If it isn't install the jumper wire between the IAT signal circuit and the chassis ground. If now the IAT reading on the scan tool is maxed out then check for an open in the IAT ground circuit. If you get no reading at all on the scan tool, it's likely that the sensor signal is open or the 5 volt reference is missing. Check using a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter) for a 5 volt reference. If it's there, then unplug the connector at the PCM and check for continuity on the IAT signal circuit between the PCM connector and the IAT connector.
Hope this help (remember rated this).

1997 Chevrolet Camaro RS 3800 series (VIN K) V6 automatic. Intermittant stalls while driving/ Intermittant No start. Codes: EVAP and No Spark-No Injector Pulse. Was told it could be either the Ign. Cont. Mod. or the Crankshaft Sensor. What say you?
re-seat and clean all plug wires and clean coil post.. i found on my 97 that i had some corroded leads and dirty coil post. the evap could just mean the gas cap isnt on securely. Change "fuel filter" and purchase a can of "Sea Foam" @ Autozone.. pour in 1/2 can to half tank of gas and drive for 30 minutes and let it clean the injectors...if all this fails to correct the problem.. then it might just be the ICM.
