I had a similar experience just the other day, i stopped to get gas and turned the car off and when attempting to turn the car back on nothing would happen. Well, let me rephrase the lights inside and out would work as well as the ac and the radio. My initial train of thought was maybe it was the battery so i went and purchased a new battery which was around $100, I installed the new battery and the car still wouldn't start. Does your car make a clicking noise when you turn the inginition key or is it just silent? If it is silent, you might want to check to see if your starter has burned out. Luckly a friend of a friend does his own mechanical work and was able to remove and replace the starter for me. After the starter was replaced the car started right up and ran perfectly. Not sure where u live but in my area a starter ranges in price from $100-200, but they also charge a core fee ranging from $45+, which can be reimbursed if you bring in your old starter to the store. I would suggest getting a starter with a lifetime warranty as well, but thats just a suggestion.
Hope this helps,

the hood will not open when the release is pulled any info would be very beneficial.
Posted by jonwood20 on
There is no easy way to get the hood open to repair the problem, here are the common ways we technicians use to get the hood open when the release or latch is broken or stuck, 1st try pulling the outside sheath of the cable that pulls the hood open, it that fails try to reach it from underneath, without a lift rack that is very hard, the 3rd is through the grille opening, after 30 years and dozens of problems like yours this is the way I approach the job of getting the hood open.

I need a replacement key for my Lexus. It is very expensive thru the dealer. Is there any other site that could make them cheaper. Thanks
Posted by iluvmnusa on
Your key has a programable security micro chip inside it. It is either and embedded chip or a transferable one in a **** shell type key.
Some dealers may have generic blanks and cut them to code with a laser cutter. If it is a **** shell type key with touch pad buttons, they simply reinstall the touch pad when equipped. If not the new key must be programmed to the cars security system
There are online sites on ebay, including one in Florida who gaurantees his work and genuine parts, but I would strongly recommend against a generic key online.

I have a 94 Lexus ES 300 and there is a check engine light and i also have a trouble code P0753.The code said it was the Shift Silinoi A.Can you please tell me the location of the Shift Silinoi A and how to fix it.
I also have a another question. when i turn on the car and i put it in drive, i drives to slow. After 20 or 30 miles, the shift turn back to normal. So do you think it is the Shift Silinoi A, or is it the electronic trouble. So how much do you think that will cost if we fix it? 96 lexus CEL light on code p0753 slow going into 1 and 2 but after that drives normal. also o/d light is flashing. Is it in fail safe mode? Around how much to fix if it is shift solenoid 1 and 2. Or could it be an ECM problem?

On a 1996 Lexus ES300, how do you replace the starter? Any diagrams of where it's located?
Also how do you differentiate between a starter and starter solenoid problem? Where is the starter solenoid?

where is the fuse for the trunk latch
Posted by msbrendasm... on
First, please read this article: Where's The Fuse?
Then to answer your question...There are actually 3 fuses involved...
Your trunk release is controlled by the Theft Deterrent And Door Lock ECU. The three fuses that can affect your trunk release are:
1. ECU-IG fuse (15 Amp)
2. CIG fuse (15 Amp)
3. POWER fuse (30 Amp)
These are all located in Junction Block #1 on the left side of the dash.
If any of these fuses are blown, there will be a bunch of other stuff also not working.

The wipers work manually but when turned to intermittent they just turn on so there is no delay. I was trying to figure out how to take the switch off the steering colum to take it appart but it's not very obvious.
Also, My radio light just flashes off and on but won't come on.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

My lexus ES 300 (97) wont start. When I tried to start it, everything just went dead. the battery seemed drained somehow. I tried to jump start it, but then it starts clicking continuously and refuses to start. It doesn't crank. I am thinking of changing the battery, but is that a good move? What if it drains yet again? What is the problem? Please help.

Unfortunately, with a dead battery you can't diagnose where the power drain is, it could be a door switch leaving the interior lights on, or a short circuit somewhere. Before purchasing a new battery, you could put a charge on the existing battery to get the car started. Also check for corrosion around the battery cables and posts. This would prevent you from jump starting your car. Once started, you can check things like the alternator for problems.
