Question about 2001 Volkswagen Beetle

1 Answer

I have a 2001 vw beetle 5 speed and i can't seem to locate the Fuel Pump Relay. My car is truning over but won't start, spraying starter fluid in the engine and it starts for a moment but won't stay on. I'm thinking the Fuel Pump is out but want to look at the relay as well.

  • Hi, I can help.

  • The fuel pump relay is 4th over on the very bottom row of the relay panel under the hood. This can be the pump too. The pump holds pressure and when the back pressure switch fails the car won't start. Or the pump could just be out period. The fuel filter can do this too.

Ran out of gas in a 2001 jeep cherokee limited 4.7 awd now it wont crank is it the fuel pump or is there a relay or reset

Not aware of any re-set on Jeeps. But you said it won't crank? Starter is not working? Please clarify.
If it won't crank over from the starter, your problem is in the start circuit, and not affected by fuel pump operation. So, please reply.

I try to jump start my 2001 vw beetle but it just keeps turning over and won't start. the last time it did it was bogging and died. ever since it just turns over but wont start.

sounds like your battery may be bad. take it to autozone to have it charged and tested for hold-charge. takes about an hour or so. and its free.

2000 vw beetle starts fine when engine is cold, sometimes won't start when engine is warm my mechanic doesn't know what trouble is because it always starts for him. the problem is erratic.

spray quick start when it doesnt start, If it starts then replace the main relay and fuel pump relay. If it still has this issue then replace the fuel pump. The only other option is to wait till it fails completely and only then will a shop be able to properly diagnose this. If you take it in and it doesnt act up for the mechanic then its going to cost you and they won't be able to fis it. .If it doesnt start when you spray quick start then the problem is ignition related and it could be the main relay, or ignition module or crank sensor.

2001 vw beetle tdi(deisel) cranks but won't start

It could either be the engine speed sensor or the fuel injection pump. When this happened to me, ofcourse I was in the middle of nowhere. The fuel injection pump needed replacing. To do this they had to also time it... I let vw do this one reluctantly.

CANT GET VW BEETLE STARTED

hi if its not been started for five years and it is trying to start but just won,t keep running get someone to tow you and jump start it because i suspect the compressions will be low due to a build up of damp carbon valves sticking all in all the seats on the head and valve will not be seating so if you persisist with the jump start it forces the valves onto the seats and will clear the debrie if it still won,t go check your compressions yates210456
