Hopefully, someone with experience with your Dakota will chime in. Look for a fuse, relay, or circuit breaker that is a main power source. Reason is, that something is not bringing your dash lites on, especially the check engine light, which has to come on, as a check that it is functioning before car is started. Have you had any problems with looseness, sloppiness in your ignition switch or key lock cylinder? Maybe there is a fuse for the dash lights? for the engine control unit(computer)? My toyota, for instance, has an EFI fuse at the area near the battery, which powers up the computer. Well, keep looking, and good luck.

that little EFI fuse is just a 15amp (blue) fuse, too, by the way.

I have no power anywhere. i can jump solenoid and engine turns over but no fire. i suspect ignition switch but would that cause no power through out the car?

The fact that you can turn the engine but not get it to fire would suggest the battery is ok. The fact that you have no headlights, dash lights etc. would point to blown fuse/fuses. Even if the ignition switch was faulty you should still be able to switch the headlights on. I would check the fuses and the ignition switch wiring.

My 2004lmpala wont start 3400 engine ?

If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also check for fuel injector pulse.

What lights, are you talking about dash lights? If so, some of those items may not go hot until you turn on the key. Then I would check ignition switch and wiring. I haven't looked at your wiring diagrams. I would think the horn circuit would be hot all the time.

Spins over, wont fire. New fuel pump, ignition coil, and ICM. Cleaned cap and rotor. still wont fire

Is there spark getting to the spark plugs ? Is there fuel pressure, check with fuel pressure gauge . Is there an anti-theft system light lit on the dash ? SECURITY light ? Can a scan tool communicate with the vehicle modules ? PCM , BCM , ABS , Air bags , etc... You should test before replacing parts ! No Start Diagnostic Basics EricTheCarGuy

Ignition switch on dodge dynasty?

I had a similar problem years ago. As long as your dash lights come on, it's likely you can use an external pushbutton switch to run the starter. There are likely just 4 wires on the ignition switch. Power from the battery, and switched to:
main car stuff (dash lights, ignition, signals, etc)
splice in wires from battery and starter to new switch, and you're good to go. This worked for years on my old car.

Intermitent starting problem

Have you checked your ignition switch? Generally it is located "behind" the keyhole. It is a cylinder shaped thing that has contacts that might be worn or dirty.

When key is in the "on" position my dash lights (check engine, brake, etc) will run their post and then the normal lights will remain on, however my instrument panel doesn't operate at all. The...

i would check for loose or broken grounds to the dash on the fire wall (located under the hood by wiper motor/hvac assembly) also sometimes the instrument cluster gets dirty/loose connection. if so remove cluster and clean connectors and reassemble. try the grounds first.

Dash instruments not working, engine turns but wont start

iam not sure but the most common culprit is a bad ignition switch. if the switch goes bad then no power will get to the gauges etc. check switch.
