There are aftermarket wireharnesses available. I suggest the $15-25 purchase. The wires usually match color for color to the aftermarket stereo saving a major head ache if attempting to figure out the factory harness. These adaptors are available at many audo part stores and local installation shops. To check the harness you need, Metra, on of the main aftermarket wire harness manufacturers has an application chart on line, see metraonline.com or a search for American International or Scosche.

Check the bulbs, if you haven't already, if they are ok it's most likely the flasher, which is mounted on the fuse block under the dash.

How to connect radio wire harness for aftermarket radio, I have an extra orange and brown wire and 2 yellow wires on one harness and 1 yellow wire on the other harness.

Easiest and most painless way is to get and adapter harness from any Wal-mart or auto supply store. Has easy to follow diagrams and tells where all wires go. Also makes for easy, no cut, removal in future.

I am trying to hook up an aftermarket stereo to my 2008 mitsubishi lancer. the wiring harnesses (metra 70-7005 and mito-02) that i have do not appear to line up with the mitsubishi wiring. when turned on,...

Power to most radios is the red wire and ground is black. Do not mix up the two and make sure your plugs match "red for red" and "black to black" (the ground some times will also be green). If not you can blow a fuse in your box which you might need to check. If you have a meter you can check your car harness plug to see if you have 12 volts on your red coming out. If not make sure your fuse is good and you have the power on in the car (key turned backwards on most cars will power the harness if not turn if forward like you are going to crank it. If you are not sure the radio is good, you can pop the hood of your car and hook up the red wire from the radio to positive side of the battery cable and the black to the ground side of the battery cable and you should be able to turn the radio on. If you see it power up, you will know your problem is in your harness. Hope this helps

Lincoln town car 1995 radio won't turn off

I have seen people remove the factory radio, cut the harness and splice it to an aftermarket headunit, then attempt to reattach the factory harness they cut off to install the OEM radio back in proir to sale. Try removing the radio and look to see if the wires have been tampered with. If so you need to reconnect the harness wire by wire and use crimp connectors not the twist and tape method. Otherwise the electrical system has been altered elsewhere. The ACC lead to the radio should power off the radio when you turn off the ignition no matter what unless the electrical system has been modified.
