My 1994 honda accord idles too low

Just purchased the car. The idle was too high, I found someone had adjusted the throttle cable too tight. After adjusting some slack in the cable, found the idle is too low. I don't see idle adjustment screw either.

The engine computer runs idle speed, through the IAC motor. (Idle Air Control) Maybe its bad or stuck. The cable was adjusted to help it idle. You can bet the previous owner knows all about it. Get it checked out.

SOURCE: How to Adjust idle RPM for a 2003 honda accord. some people were talking about a screw on the throttle body. but I can't find that screw. How do you go with adjusting this and where to find it ?

There isn't an adjustment screw that you really manipulate. The computer dynamically controls the throttle using the information it gets from the throttle positioning sensor (TPS) on the throttle body. The TPS is secured with tamper proof bolts that the head breaks off when torqued down. If you remove the throttle body and extract those bolts, then you can add bolts/screws with head and can be loosened and tightened. Then you can move the TPS back and forth to adjust the idle.

I wouldn't recommend doing this though: if there is and issue with the idle, it is because something is malfunctioning, not because it needs to be adjusted.

First, you shouldn't adjust the idle. If the idle isn't correct, that means there is an issue somewhere - not that the idle needs to be adjusted.

There isn't an adjustment screw. To adjust the idle, you will need to move the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) forwards or backward. To do this, you will need to remove the tamper proof bolt and replace it with one that can be loosened and tightened.

My 94 honda accord is idling up and down when in park or neutral whats the problem

hello, i just had the same problem. i have a 94 accord 4 cyl, and the rpm would sit at 500at normal temp. i cleaned the iacv the ficv. there is also a screw under the throttle body( i forgot what is is called, but you screw it back in), that seemed to help for my fluctuating idle problem. i recently changed my pcv valve and now my rpm sit at 1000. so i think that you need to change out your pcv valve. only 2.99 at autozone. hope you found this helpful

1991 HONDA ACCORD EX REALLY HIGH IDEL

High idle conditions could be a result of low coolant levels causing the fast idle valve under the throttle body to catch air and not operate accordingly as it needs pressure built once car is warmed up to close the gap of allowed air passage reslting in lower idle at time engine reaches operating temperature. Or the valve could simply

How do I increase the idle speed on a 1994 honda accord EXR?

There is a adjustment on the throttle body where the gas pedal cable runs into, Just back it off a half turn at a time, Small adjustments make big difference in idle. you can make sure you have the right line by pressing in gas pedal a few times and standing outside leaning towards the engine do this with the car while it is not running to look for the cable you will see it move

Where is the idle control sensor? Idles low/high at a stop like its searching to find a happy medium almost killing the engine. I found the idle air control motor behind the fuel rail next to the fire...

Have you try adjusting the idle air control (mixture ) screw, sit close to the air duct on the throttle body, there will be a small screw in a hole flat head might have a plastic cap over it, turn till it idles where you want it.

1997 honda accord ex idles at 400rpm when warmed up how do i adjust it to raise it lil bit

If this is fuel injected with actual injectors you may find an adjustment on the throttle cable at the motor. If it has what appears to be a manifold mounted carborator there will be a throttle idle adjustment that you can adjust to increase idle.

Just installed new carb in my 1989 honda. Used diagram to connect vacuum hoses back up, but car idle speed is too high - up to 2,000rpm. What could be wrong?

try turning down the idle via the idle adjust set screw (usually on the carburetor base). if the problem persists after the engine is warmed up, there may be an issue with the automatic choke. also check the throttle linkage by disconnecting it to see if it is holding the throttle open when connected. if this is the case, you may need to adjust it or find a slightly longer cable.

My honda idles very high and low and erratic when iac disconnect

You need to have the throttle adjusted and since this will involve adjusting the air to fuel mixture you will most likely need a mechanic with a computer bench to do the work. Should cost around $40 to $50.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem

if its a carb model you might need to strip and refurb the carb if not buy a second hand one they are pretty cheap or it could be a choke problem
