SOURCE: replace speakers on Ford Explorer Sport Trac

The front and rear door panels must be removed. The interior door handle will have to be removed, and the power window switch will also have be removed. This is held in by metal clips that secure it to the door panel. Do not be afraid to use a little force to get under the switch panel, and pry it from the door panel. Once you have all accessories off of the door panel, look for what may appear to be "plugs" in the door panel. These may conceal the presence of a screw. Also, check around the interior door pull for screws or "plugs". When this is done, use a medium to large screwdriver, or a trim removal tool, and start prying the door panel away from the door. Start at the bottom, and work your way around the door, until you get about 2-3 inches from the top of the panel where it meets the window. When you are at this point front and rear, simply lift up on the door panel, and it should come off easily. Once the panel is removed, you will easily find the speakers.

SOURCE: 2001 ford explorer sport trac

Just found the answer on another site. Sure enough went out removed the 3 philips head screws in the steering column opened it up and walla a wire connection had pulled itself free. When my son uses my truck he always uses the tilt steering, when I get in I have to readjust it. because of this the wire connection pulled itself out. I simply pushed it back in an blinker and brake light are now working. My husband is now trying to figure a way to secure the wire connection so it doesn't pull itself out again. Hope this helps others, either by saving the cost of a dealership or machanic or from getting rear ended.

SOURCE: where is the fuel filter location on a 2001 ford

It is inside the left frame rail below the drivers door, you need a special tool to release the filter from the line. filter just snaps into its metal holder. Good luck and you can get the fuel line quick release tool at most Auto Parts store.

On my 2001 ford sports trac, should the rear axle and wheel have any ''in and out'' play? Jacked up, both rear wheels when grabed, will move inward and outward about 3/8'' travel.

it is about at it's limit of travel dos it move up and down? with a bar betwwen the tire lift up with the bar if you get any movement tthen you need to take apart and see what is causing them, Have seen Rear axle traveling down the highway on a Ford once, it was amazing how far it travled down the freeway. Check bolts on the backing plate then pull thee diff cover and look to see if the spider gear teeth are wore off or the C-clips are worn can't tell without inspetion.

Rearend noise on 2004 Ford Explorer Sport trac

what type of noise?
have you checked the fluid?

if its a grinding noise while driving it could be choppy tires carrier bearings or axle bearings.

if its a whine while accelerating or decelerating than it is pinion angle.

if you can safly get both rear tires off of the ground than start it and put it in gear, try to locate the exact location "center chunk or out far in axle tubes" make sure vehicle is secure and safe befor climbing underneath.

2001 ford explorer sport trac. When applying the brakes in a hurry they act as though the rear brakes arent working. The anti lock seems to be ok how about the proportional valve is there some reset button ?

have you replaced front brakes 3+ times? normal wear is 3 front to 1 rear. plus ratio of braking for MOST veh's is 70% front vs 30% rear. rears could simply have worn out!

Ford explorer and ford explorer sport trac same exterior parts?

Above is correct, some body panels are interchangeable some aren't...Headlights, front fenders, hood yes. Doors unsure, bed and back no (obviously). The underpinnings (suspension) are similar, but not exact...and depending on the year, the Explorer went to independent rear suspension, while the sport trac kept the solid axle differential.
