Question about 2004 Kia Spectra

Open Question

2004 kia spectra brake light not working

The brake lights are not working. I checked the fuses in the dash and the engine compartment and they are all good. The dash lights are working and my wife said that the brake lights were working for her after the car had been driven a little. I was not there to see. We live in FL so you know what the climate is and I have not yet checked the switch behiind the brake pedel. At a lose? All three lights are out at the same time so I don't believe that it is a tail light issue

make sure to check your owners manual for posible extra fuse panels or boxes, some late madels come with 2 or tree fuse boxes.

needs looking at because it could be switch that allows it to turn on if sufficient gas is present ,or a problem with the clima compùter ,but to do anything you will need the special machine to empty the system then check things out so take to an authorised AC garage ,because these systems are a potential accident and you could lose a finger with frostbite in a matter of less than 2 seconds .therefore i will not tell you how to look for a soloution because of the dangerous nature of playing with air con

Check the cable, connector or the holder, this might also be cause of fuse box problem, sometimes fuse seems to be ok but the fuse slot get ionised salts that makes a connection problem. You can swithch the wires for indicator with tail light wires to make it sure that the holders or bulbs are ok

Which fuse is for the dash lights

Your dash light fuse is usually labeled instrument lights or inst. lts. on your fuse panel cover . It is important to note that the instrument light fuse is fed by the brake light fuse . So , make sure your brake lights are working properly first . If your brake light fuse is blown , your instrument lights will not work .

No tail lights

look for a blown fuse in your engine compartment fuse box. if you dont find one there then check the fuse panel in the dash under you column. it could be one of the larger feed fuses in the engine compartment fuse box so dont overlook those.

I have changed the bulbs in brake lights. They dont work but the brakelight in rear window does .I am not sure which fuse if any to change.I have a 2003 Kia Carens.

It is most likely a blown fuse. If you have the owner's manual, it will tell you where the box is located (usually in the engine compartment). If you do not have a manual, look for the fuse box/ relay center either under the dash or in the engine compartment. There will be a diagram on the inside cover telling which fuse is for the tail lights/ brake lights. Pull that fuse straight out of it's socket, and replace it with an appropriately rated fuse (from any auto parts store).

Dash lights do not turn on when turning on head lights

This is probably a blown fuse. Consult your owners manual for fuse locations. On todays cars, there is often an under the hood fuse location for engine controls and another location inside the passenger compartment for things like dashboards and tail lights. The light that comes on when you put it in drive is probably the brake light. It goes on when you step on the brake and shift into drive.
