Question about 2006 Buick LaCrosse

Dim headlights on 2006 buick lacrosse

When driving at night, the headlights on our 2006 buick lacrosse seem too dim for safe driving. It's okay when we turn the brights on, but we can't keep driving in traffic with the brights on.

The lights are automatic when we start the car up ...day or night....but it doesn't seem to be strong enough at night.

I have the same problem with my 2006 Buick Lacrosse. Sometimes the lights will go on automatically and sometimes not. The brights do work, but there is no low beam.

Check the earth wire first, wattage on the bulbs in case their wrong or old type bulbs ,check supply voltage ,if all ok then fit aux spot lights .if still having a problem have eyes checked as over 40 the old peepers can deteriorate ,dont know the name of it but it can affect some people at a younger age than others, glasses will not correct this problem.

One high beam not working 2006 Buick lacrosse

Sampson, sounds like a bunt out bulb, which will need changed.
If you feel comfortable doing it yourself. Basically three screws, and you have to pull one plastic fastener from the fascia (bumper) and pull the bumper back a bit, and pull the assembly out. I believe it is in the manual, not bad to do. I will post a link to tell or show you how to do it. Press the helpful button

First, check that the battery connections are clean and not corroded. If not look for the ground wires that connect to the chassis. Check to see if any are corroded or loose. Finally if that has no effect, you have a short somewhere in your wiring. The easy way to isolate it is to pull the fuses for each device one by one and see if the dimming stops. The last one to cause the dimming is the problem. If it happens when you hit a bump it also might be a ground fault in the interior car grounds....good luck!

2009 lacrosse...compass, clock and milage lights sometimes stay real dim and then later pop up to normal brightness so I can read them...what goes ?

Starting car in garage turns on headlights which makes believe it is dark out and therefore dims dash lights. When car is out of garage it switches to running lights which allow dash lights to get brighter. I guess I should have figured that !!!

The bright light fitting is the same as the dim so take it apart fist to see how the cover screws off/on and the light comes out. Both the cover and the bulb are removed by a standard twist to the counterclockwise and replaced by a twist to the clockwise. Now to the dim light. You have to release the entire light assembly before you can remove the screw-on cover to reach the light. On the rear edge of the light unit closest to the engine is a white locking tab. Pull that tab up just to the point where it releases…pull too far and it locks again. Next, locate the other locking bracket which is a metal bracket in the center-rear of the light assembly. This bracket is held down by a screw. Remove the screw with a 10mm wrench. Lift the bracket just like you did the white bracket. You should now be able to pull (or pry) the entire light unit forward a little. Depending on the size of your hands this might be enough. If not, then you need to release the plastic bumper assembly to give you a little more space. This is done by removing two expansion locking pins, one that holds the little plastic strip down between the bright and dim lights and one that is located inside a rubber bumper on the engine side of the light unit. To remove these locking pins, pull or pry up the little tab in the center of the pin just like you were pulling a nail by the head. That should give you more space.
