Keep the turbo 400 tranny and have it rebuilt but, $3000 seems a little excessive. It should not need to be re-engineered, and will easily handle your 435 HP crate engine. With regard to your gearing, I would not go outside of the 3.83 - 4.11 range. Running the 4.11s you'll need a lot of tire to keep the tires from spinning. In reference to the "1500" in your title line, if this is a truck, your going to have to put a good bit of weight in the back end to keep the tires from spinning.

Bought a 2003 jag x type with blown freeze plugs, brand new crate engine was supposed to be delivered with car, scammer did not deliver engine Can freeze plugs be repaired?

Yes they can but the plugs let go for a reason, find out why. A crate engine costs about $9,000 for this car so find it hard to believe you where really given this promise.

2002 Honda CRV rear brake running hot. Taken to mechanic says, needs new calipers, brake pads and rotors. Reasonable assumption or can calipers be repaired with kit, rotors re-machined and new pads...

Although calipers can be rebuilt, it's usually more cost effective to buy a rebuilt caliper. As far as turning the rotors, modern day rotors are much thinner than those of 20 years ago. Where in times passed you could turn down rotors 2 or 3 times before replacement, taking a few 1000ths off a newer rotor will take it under factory specs. As far as a reasonable price goes, the full job can run anywhere from $400-600 depending on the shop doing the work. Doing the job yourself you can save a few hundred dollars in labor and another $100 in parts markup.

How much to buy a new transmission and engine??

You do not say which engine trans you have or are wanting. The 3.1 or 3.4 crate engine new will cost about $1,886.00. The 700r transmission will cost about $1499.00. Then the 350 crate engine will cost about $1695.00 up. Plus shipping.

I was just given a 1987 300zx i think its a 2 2 how do you know that plus engine is shot and atuto trans is shot is it too much to change it over to man trans or just find a rebuilt engine and...

call a junkyard or look one up on the net. you are going to spend a thousand dollars doing this and end up with a 400 dollar car. for a grand you can buy a working car 13 years newer. sell that one off piece by piece on eBay or craigslist.

How much does a new engine cost.?

It would depend on which engine you have and whether you need the complete engine, or just the long block. Look up Chevrolet Crate Motors on the internet. You should be able to get dealer prices on all their engines. You might look into rebuilt engines from local sources. Generally, rebuilt engines are only going to be long block assemblies. They will be a lot cheaper than a crate motor, but the warranty won't be as good. Personally, I would go for the new engines.

I need to rebuild my engine.

You're better off buying a 'crate' motor instead. Rebuilding an engine is seriously complicated, but dropping in a freshly rebuilt one is not that bad. You can also try the local junkyards, they often have complete engines for sale. The nice thing about crate motors is they usually come with a warranty, I doubt a junkyard motor would.

Replacing engine with a crate engine

You have to get new gaskets like head gasket, valve cover gasket, water pump gasket. You'll need an alternator, if it has a/c you'll need an a/c compressor; you'll need a serpentine belt.
