Question about 1998 Mercedes-Benz SLK
My display for my radio is not displaying anything but the radio and cd player is working just fine. How would I correct that problem?
The display is damaged by the sun ,either renew it or just use it as it is

try pulling the fuse and it might reset the unit, also if there is a code to the system it may need this if someone was pulling fuses before you bought the vehicle you might need the code. or just pull the stock system out and get an after market system for what you would pay the MB dealer to trouble shoot it .let me know how it turns out

the fuse and power supply box is located on the left side of the trunk behind the little panel. pull the 40 amp fuse for the sound system in that panel in the trunk. I believe its an orange fuse, 5-7 slots from the bottom. should be the only 40 amp fuse on the bottom half of that fuse panel. check the fuse chart behind the triangular panel on the left side of the dash. pull the fuse for 15 seconds and reboot the comand system. if the system doesnt reboot and operate normal, then 1 or more of the audio control modules is taking down the whole system through its fiber optic ring.

This system is very complicated and unfortunatly you need a scan tool and a d2b ring tester unless you are very familiar with the fibre optic ring set up for this vehicle. most likley your c.d. player is defective-is their also a phone and do you have sound from the speakers when operating normal radio function
