Question about 1999 Ford F150 Regular Cab

1999 ford expedition: Removal of dash/headlight switch?

Bad wireing for odometer... Need to take off cluster.... Can remove ALL but the headlight switch!!!! This is an XLT w/ adjustable pedals... switch is right above adjustment button for pedals... ANY Ideas.....???

Yes you can. the head light switch come out real ez it un plug on the back side .and the cluster come out in one pices

2003 ford f150 supercrew lariat. Odometer is all dashes. All lights headlight tail lights park lights are all on even with switch off and keys out. Horn won't blow. Engine will turn over but not crank.

Odometer
The instrument cluster receives odometer rolling count status from the PCM and stores the mileage in non-volatile memory (NVM). When the instrument cluster fails to receive the odometer rolling count status for more than two seconds, the odometer display will show dashes.

B2143 Odometer NVM Memory Failure Instrument Cluster INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to Instrument Cluster in this section. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
Taking the vehicle an having it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes would be a good idea ! Not to autozone or advance etc... Need a professional or factory scanner to check for these codes .
  • The headlamps are on continuously
  • Headlamp switch.
  • Circuitry.
  • Multifunction switch.
  • Daytime running lamp (DRL) relay No. 2 (if equipped).
  • DRL jumper (if equipped).
  • Headlamp relay (if equipped).
  • Remote anti-theft personality (RAP) module (if equipped).
  • Central security module (if equipped)
  • Light sensor amplifier (if equipped).
  • GO to Pinpoint Test F .

Why do the back break lights do not turn on when press on break pedal bulbs are good
u need to check the switch which u will find up above brake pedal.(quite awkward)use a torch operate the pedal by hand see if the button on switch is making contact,shorting out the two wires should light the bulbs if not its a fuse.if they light adjust or replace switch

All my dash lights are on and no odometer
car runs? and moves?
headlights work (full bright not dim) all lights work.
you key on, and the warning lights glow, and the CEL lamp too.
that is first.
then the odometer
no OD
means what ( blank, stuck, wont roll if mechancal?)
the odometer must work on all cars if the speedo works
so does speedo work?

ill look up the system now, varies by year.

what engine, you do know systems vary by ENGINE. in car.
ill guess. now.
4.3L engine
the ECU has a 2 wire connection to the VSS sensor (speed)
so that means the ECU sees all speeds and sends those to the
cluster and odometer.
it uses 2 wires to the cluster to talk.

the first wise step on all cars is to check fuses.
then scan the OBD2 port
if the scan shows VSS dead, it is. P0502 or P0503?
end story, fix VSS, (replace it or clean it)
if no errors with VSS and speedo works (do says so.....?????_)
then the odometer is messed up. (not good that)

the books says if any part of cluster is bad. the whole cluster must be changed out.
but fails to say, (bad) that if MPH and ODOMETER
are dead., the VSS is bad. and the scan tool told you that.
all scan tools sold work here,
why not scan it first like we all do.....(never work blinds)

I have a 2007 chevy tahoe and the "PRNDL" is completly gone and the Odometer is barely visable...Any ideas on how to fix this?
{: ) Check the ISLAMPS fuse 10amp at the IP fuseblock. If okay, check the operation of the instrument panel brightness control switch. It is that small protruded knob beside the main headlight switch. If all instrument (dashboard) backlightings respond normally as you adjust the intensity, and these two you mentioned are the only issues, you may need to replace the IP cluster. It will be replaced with a later model cluster and will need to be programmed.

The car gauges for the odometer, gas and temperature are not working, also when i put the directional signals some times they work some times they don't. Usually they don't work in mornings. other thing...
The brake light is a separate issue and is either a bad brake light switch or the switch is out of adjustment. The instrument cluster is a known problem and can be a broken solder joint or a bad ground connection inside the negative battery terminal. Do a search for caravan instrument cluster and you'll find lots of info

Brake light just stopped working, they turn on when i turn on my headlight , just wont light up when i brake.
You need to replace the Brake Light Switch which is located on the upper brake pedal arm inside your car. You can replace it yourself, just unplug it from the wiring harness, remove and replace.

Headlight swicht broke
Removal & Installation
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
  2. Remove the lower steering column cover-to-instrument panel screws and the cover.
  3. Remove the instrument cluster trim plate-to-instrument cluster screws and the panel, then allow the panel to hang to the left side by the wiring.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear of the headlight switch.
  5. Disengage and remove the headlight switch from the instrument cluster trim plate.
To install:
  1. Connect the electrical connector to the rear of the headlight switch.
  2. Engage and install the headlight switch in the instrument cluster trim plate.
  3. Install the instrument cluster trim plate-to-instrument cluster screws and the panel.
  4. Install the lower steering column cover-to-instrument panel screws and the cover.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery and check operation.

Started out with headlights out then the speedometer, odometer, gas gauge, oil, battery, rpm's are not working, fixed the headlight was a fuse but other stuff still won't work.
Have the computer checked

How do I replace the headlight switch in a 1985 ford f150 xlt
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Depending on the year and model remove the wiper/washer and fog lamp switch knob if they will interfere with the headlight switch knob removal. Check the switch body (behind dash, see Step 3) for a release button. Press in on the button and remove the knob and shaft assembly. If not equipped with a release button, a hook tool may be necessary for knob removal.
  3. Remove the steering column shrouds and cluster panel finish panel if they interfere with the required clearance for working behind the dash.
  4. Unscrew the switch mounting nut from the front of the dash. Remove the switch from the back of the dash and disconnect the wiring harness.
  5. Install in reverse order.

Odometer
is it a digital odometer or a mechanical one? If it is a digital odometer I would start by checking the fuses.
