Question about 2003 Ford E250
Back on my 2003 E250 - Service Engine Soon light came on and stays on. Triton 5.4; all gauges say temp, oil, battery all ok; oil up to level; engine is running well - starts instantly, runs strong, no knocks. Power steering fluid low; will fill it tomorrow. Air cleaner is clean/relatively new. Don't know history or status of fuel filter. Oil changed about 2000 miles ago; don't know about oil filter but assume it's new also. 143,500 miles on the vehicle; bought it used 2 days ago.
So what could it be - automatic warning based on the odometer or a computer-generated interval; or some other warning that doesn't show via other gauges?
On all cars and trucks that are 1996 or newer they have a system called obd2 and the computer monitors anything thats plugged into it like sensors. The light is on because your computer has found a problem with 1 or more of them. If you want to know what area is having a problem you need to have the codes read by a obd2 scanner or code reader some auto part stores do this for free or oil
change store or mechanic shop

Most auto parts stores will run a computer check that will give the codes for what is wrong they will also print it out for you if you ask them to for free.
