Question about 2005 Kia Spectra

1 Answer

I have a 2005 manual transmission Kia spectra...It acts like the transmission is slipping, could this be a clutch problem. While driving (about once a week) it is as though you are driving along and put your foot on the clutch because the engine revs up and you have no power for a second or two.

SOURCE: 2003 kia spectra check engine code p0604

I have bad news for you
p0604 is a transmission control module

check the connection at the transmission control module if there are no connection issues than you will need to replace the transmission controll module "tcm" there is no other test for that code.

good luck

SOURCE: 2005 kia spectra over heating

Did you install a new thermostat and make sure to bleed all the air out of the system when you replaced the radiator? If you didn't, or installed a Stant thermostat, replace it with a FACTORY OEM thermostat. Make sure the cooling system is bled by opening your radiator cap (WHILE THE CAR IS OFF AND COLD), starting the car and running the heater. Add coolant to the radiator as the engine heats up, until is at normal operating temperature AND starts spitting coolant back out.

Hope this helps,

Where is the neutral safety switch located on a manual transmission for a 2003 KIA Spectra

I am by no means an expert on Kias. That being said, i would think there wouldn't be a NEUTRAL safety switch on a manual transmission.

There should however be a CLUTCH pedal safety switch that will keep the starter from engaging unless the clutch pedal is depressed.

That switch should be located under the dashboard attached to a bracket near the top of the clutch pedal swing arm.

Hope this helps.

Replace a clutch on kia spectra 2003

That is a job to be done on a lift in a repair shop

The transmission has to come out first to get to it

Expect to pay $800.00 or more , if done correctly

The flywheel has to be machined & balanced,
then the new clutch pressure plate balanced along with
the flywheel

Not done that way, then not done correctly

You also replace the clutch slave cylinder

Keep this info for your shop questions
when you go getting prices.

I have a 05 Kia Spectra 5 speed manual transmission. The clutch is slipping. Is there any way to adjust the clutch or do I have to replace the clutch?

What mileage? where does the pedal "take up". You have given no really useful information to assist. On experience I will say this. The clutch may be worn or spirngs weakened through your poor driving techniques... or it could simply have engine oil on it from a faulty rear main seal...whatever it is you should have the box out and the items inspected yes for analysis..but replace the oil seal, machine flywheel (sanding is NOT good enough and instal a new clutch kit. .

Clutches slip at every clutch change..but that is limited.... a slippng clutch during driving should always have the flywwheel machined and the work done as stated above. Cheers Tony.

Transmission flares / slips on initial take off in drive / overdrive. 3 speed + overdrive automatic transmission in 2003 Kia Spectra with 1.8 liter engine.

I had the same issue and bought some sea foam transmission fluid product and it seems to have worked. Just be careful not to overfill it.

My 05 kia optima is loosing power

To confirm the clutch is slipping , drive at about 35mph in 5th gear and then put your foot to the floor (making sure the road in front is clear!) IF the engine note increases along with the revs and the speed stays the same then it is the clutch that needs replacing.
