Question about 2006 Subaru Forester

1 Answer

Seat Belt Indicator flashes and beeps randomly

My 2006 Subaru Forester's Seat Belt Indicator has suddenly started to randomly Flash and Beep while driving with my Seat Belt on. It doesn't seem to occur while idling though. If I'm sitting there idling without my Seat Belt on than the Seat Belt Indicator activates as it should. I do notice if I hold the Clutch in it comes on but not consistently though. I think it does it too when I use my brakes as well. The car runs normal without any problems that I can see. I haven't seen any Dashboard Warning Lights appear along with the Flashes and Beeps.

If I remember correctly there is a sensor in the seatbelt buckle. It might have worked its' way loose and your leg motions might be moving it enough to open or ground the circuit. Might be a good idea to check and see if something fell into the latch area, too.

SOURCE: 2004 subaru forester, 99,000 miles. Check engine

Drop in to an Autozone, or Pep Boys, or similar big parts store & they will usually scan for codes free. This will hopefully eliminate all the guess work, or at least point everyone in right direction for better diagnosis. If not obvious from codes what the problem is, get back to us and we'll help you out.

2011 subaru forester front passenger seat belt is locked too tightly and will not release, how do I fix?

The reason is the belt mechanism is damaged and the belt needs to be replaced. What happens is the gears lock this usually only happens when the vehicle is in a collision or has a major and hard stop

A Friend of mine had a Forrester and I'm sure he was told that the belt should be changed around 90 to 100K as a precaution. You don't want it breaking in the middle of no where. Apparently its a pretty expensive job. I would ring around a few Auto repair shops. 50K seems a bit early for such a job.

Visually check the belt to see if the piece you found was indeed from the belt. If so you should replace it ASAP If you dont you might end up stuck on the side of the road or worse! The belt drives the power steering pump the alternator the A/C and several other things.

2003 subaru forester cranks but no fire / no start

If the timing belt is broken or has lost some teeth then you will get no fire. Some models have an inspection port that you can see the belt through. Have someone try to start engine while you watch timing belt. If belt is stationary or moves in jumps then this is your problem.
