Question about 1998 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup
Pcm fuse blows when turning on ignition but if i remove the fuel pump relay switch it does not blow
Fuel pump is bad,your relay will be also from trying to start pump.there is an outside chance your relay is bad,easier to change that first

Assuming it is a fuel problem I checked at the carb. to be sure no gas was being pumped through the filter located under the power steering pump then the fuse on my 87 s10 was the ECM fuse.then check for the relay to click and the had to replace the oil pressure sending unit and mine started right up..the oil pressure must be about 4 lbs for the Pump tp operate...I loosened the fuel line to ck. for fuel but thats living dangerously...a pressure guage would be on the safe side......

sounds like a short in the wiring from the fuse and the fuel injector junction block. GM like most fuel injection systems control injector firing by the computer providing ground to each injector in pairs or individually. The fuel injector fuse provides power to the injectors using splices therefore enabling one wire to feed 6 injectors. A shorted wire at any of these wires will blow the fuse. On one rare incident I found a faulty computer caused the fuse to blow. A shorted injector will just cause a rough running problem due to the injector stuck either open or closed.

Sounds Like you have a defected pump. Or the wires to it may have gotten pinched. The fuse is showing you an over load. DUE TO FIRE !!!
( Don't use a over size fuse it can start a fire! )
You are going to need to start by dropping the tank. Check all wires around the tank. You are looking for bare wires. Then remove fuel pump check all wires going in to tank & wires in the tank. Now with fuel pump out check the wires on the fuel pump.
Now you that you have checked the wire and all are were good take the fuel pump back and tell them what is going on. They should test it.

Well the fuel level to your guage is controlled by the fuel level sending unit/sensor this should not cause your pcm to blow a fuse. There is a short somewhere else that is causing this. I would suggest taking it to an auto electric shop who can easily identify the problem area with a short/open circuit tester. Not too sure about the shops in your area but I would usually charge around $75 for that test plus parts & addl labor to give you some kind of idea. Trying to determine a wiring problem blindly is not a fun and can be a very time consuming task. You would have to consider possibly checking all inputs into your pcm as the problem occurs with a digital multifunction meter to determine the circuit causing the problem as well as potentially checking all the wiring in your fuel delivery system as well
