Question about 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier

Car heater blowing cold air

Had serpentine belt put on couple months ago. Worked fine a few weeks then started missing when air conditioner was on and we could smell rubber burning. The heater is also blowing cold air now. Had been advised before to turn on heat. It had been leaking water before from water tank and I was advised to turn on heat and rev up motor and it worked for a while. Any help will be appreciated.

While driving my 03 Camry I smelled a burning rubber smell and came to stop at the light and car shuts off and light smoke came from under the hood

chances you have one of possible problems . your serp belt burned up because something seized.or a electrical short at the starter or fuse box. or in the fuse box the main fuse went. but not with smoke i would check the first two belt or short in the starter or alternater

Car heater blowing cold air and rubber burnning

If your heater is spraying a light mist through your vents it could be your heater coil. Mine did the same thing, smell rubber burning, then started a light mist through the vents. If you don't get that checked out, it could mess up your water pump and possibly your engine

Honda passport problem

The louder noise and burnt smell possibly was the bearing getting worse, or going out, causing the belt to slip over the pullet and start heating up.
Was it a burnt rubber smell?

I don't see how this could have anything to do with the flywheel though.

I want to by pass my air conditioner compressor on a 1997 Z-28, is there a serpinetine belt made to do this?

Usually doing what you want to do has problems down the road, a serpentine belt around the AC is not costing much, in terms of horsepower robbing. It is an idler when not engauged.

AC sometimes does not blow cold

recharging wouldtn hurt, a mechanic can tell you the level and if needed, but check also your serpentine belt, it might just be loose and worn and not engaging the condenser properly.

A smell of burning rubber is coming from my engine. What is it? Could it be the timing belt? Is it safe to drive any distance? Thanks I have a burning rubber smell in my Subaru 2003 Outback, - any...

Check serpentine belt, the radidator hose , the air conditioner compressor and also the differential seal they common cause for rubber smell.

Check for any rubber part that can be in contact with exhaust system and inspect wirings looking for shorts.

Also ensure that the smell is not coming from a bad tyre, and check for oil leaks in your engine, burnt oil can be confused with rubbere smell.
