Flexsteel electric recliner positioned itself in full reclined position and is now stuck there. Help!

When I connect the recliner to the power source, it immediately went into the full reclined position without the controls being activated. The controls are not working and the love seat is stuck in the reclined position. How do I fix the problem?

I had this problem recently as well. If the switch is the issue (it was for me) a temporary fix turned out to be quite easy, but does require access to a "spare" open/close switch (you can pick up from Amazon for as little as about $15).

Reach under the seat and disconnect the 5-pin plug from the switch to the motor (mine simply pulled out with little effort). Attach the 5-pin plug from the "spare" switch. Bingo. The new switch operates the seat. Close the seat. When its in the closed position, reach under the seat and disconnect the "spare" switch (leave the original unplugged as well). The seat will not operate but at least its in the closed position.

Now its a functional seat until you can find the right switch for the seat and make a permanent repair.

Hope this helps

Lincoln MKX passenger seat stuck in reclining position

Hi. Thanks for your question. Check all the fuses first and then look under the seat to see if something has stuck in the track assembly. You might find that the wire connectors have disconnected from the seat switch somehow. However, you can also visit https://www.reliable-store.com and download the entire workshop manual for better understanding. It has all the information along with the diagrams which are really helpful. Good day!

If it's binding the circuit breaker will shut off the recline motor. You have to replace the entire back frame to replace the motor

Back tilt is a manual round knob on drivers seat it just turns

It sounds like the inside of the recliner knob is stripped out. If you go to your local GM dealership and give them your VIN number they can order you a new one. Here is the removal and installation directions.
Driver or Passenger Seat Recliner Handle Replacement Removal Procedure
  1. Use a flat-bladed tool to remove the plastic center cap from the center of the recliner handle.

  2. Pull the recliner handle off the shaft.
Installation Procedure
  1. Install the recliner handle on the recliner shaft.

  2. Push the recliner handle firmly onto the recliner shaft until fully seated.
  3. Install the plastic center cap into the center of the recliner handle.

Passenger seat stuck in lying down position.

Use some penetrating lubricant on all pivot points and levers around the recline mechanism, and let the lubricant sit overnight. In the morning, try to work the recline mechanism free. (The vehicle is quite old at this point, and likely parts in the interior need lubrication. These parts should be lubricated annually.)

Veracruz driver seat

Hi tlocker,

Sorry to tell you, but if we're talking about an electrically operated seat, there's no short cut....The seat will have to be removed and then you'll have to sort out why the motor reversal does not work....Could be a bad connection..... If it's a manual operation then you'll have to find out where its stuck....

Front seat stays in the reclined postion..

The seat position is changed through the use of a cable that runs through a flexible tunnel, under the seat. In one case that I'm aware of, this cable got stuck around a projecting seat spring under the seat. When the seat was reclined and moved backward or forward, the cable caught on the seat spring and the seat had insufficient slack in the cable to release from the reclined position.
