Question about 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

2 Answers

I never had this problem until I had my transmission rebuilt when I picked it up this problem started. When I take it on a short drive and restart it and put it into gear the truck will eigther rev

Up or stall out. If I take it on a long drive ten miles or more I have no problem restarting it. Could this have something to do with my tranny rebuild or not

Possibly they pulled a wire when the tranny was worked on . just stop in and ask them nicely to check that idea out

Hi there
Well the only thing i can think of is that on your box is either that the torque converter has a problem OR you have a vac pipe on the gear box playing up .
So please take it back to who done the box job and ask them to check it over ,before you do any damage.

That quality transmission may have a shorted shift solenoid or the wiring harness to the transmission is shorted or the control module is defective.I would strongly suspect the wiring is the problem, check every inch of it for damage like touching the exhaust and so on.

Only thing that pops into my mind is vacuum. Make sure the hoses are hooked up to the tranny, and make sure all your lines are hooked up on the engine. If you hear a hissing under the hood when it's running, that will be a leaking vac line, and could be the cause of the tranny problems. Be sure not to start out in drive if until you get it figured out or you will smoke the tranny for sure. Start in first or second and then bump it up as you speed up. Let me know how you make out.

1979 xj6l jag ,transmission rebuilt then stored

No, the seals will not cure themselves, it will continue to leak until it is repaired.
because the transmission was not worked for more than a year, the seals dry up, when you start the engine the dry seals can rip or wear.

2001 buick lesabre, transmission problem?

There is a pressure sol. in the transmission that is bad . This is a common problem that requires removal of the side transmission cover. The transmission does not need to be rebuilt! Talk to a gm dealer. I have sold over a hundred of these pressure sol. and the side cover gaskets to a real gm transmission mechanic that have fixed this problem. GM parts over 20 years.
