asked here 100s of times.
ever do searches first.

here ill type for you.
ah it the 4 banger,

asked many times here.
its inside the Distributor.

why not post symptoms.with the EasterEgg hunt.
no starts,
use the diagnostic jumper to see if the CMP sensors is dead
or misfiring.???????????

GM (GEO) calls it the L72 engine. but we all know
it's A G13BA is suzuki name and real.

In USA this car is OBD2 car, use any OBD2 scanner sold, even the $10 ELM327 works here.
on pre 1996 its jumper clip flash bs test.
the Diagnostic connector, use the jumper and see if there are FLASH codes, yet. that be top of my list.
1: compression at spec, 150psi or more. x4
2: spark dead? on all cylinder?
3: sparks good does test fuel work>?
4: did you skip cam belt changes, at 60, now its slipped or snapped? (seems this is so common and avoidable)

here is that secret jumper. ( 1989-95) for other lost.... on early years. all cars here changed in 1996 by law..

get code 41 or 42 cranking? PO3xx codes 1996+
flash codes, crank for 5 seconds, if engine is dead
if engine runs let it flash running , watch lamp,
got codes now?
the scan tool can see RPM is RPM right?
the scan tool can see all sensors.
and even show sensors dead.
scan it.

if the cam belts slips, the new sensor is not a cure, and guess which fails first.
    hint not the sensor ever.

  • Anonymous Oct 08, 2015

the distrib sensor never fails, if you looked at it , youd see why, (huge star reluctor there) and clean all the time.
unlike ones in oil in head.
G13 metro, is G13a engine, SOHC, single cam belt drive, old belts fail, at 60k, ignoring the belt? and it will run bad or die.
the 1997 engine in usa added a crank sensor
to do FED laws OBD2 rules. (misfire checks)
    that needs to work too.
    CMP is in Distributor
CKP is on front of crank.
here is the CMP sensor pins on your ECU
it clear here where it is.

the newer federal engine, is next.
2 sensors seen in photo 2.

both are shown here, top arrow, is cmp
    bottom is ckp, crank.

  • Anonymous Oct 10, 2015

    one more, for all cars?
if the car has a distributor, it's usually there.
if not? a distrib engine, it's must be connected to the CAM
front or rear, must be. there. see the wires?

AND ALL parts including the CMP sensor
and the real suz part numbers. on whole car.
the bottom arrow above is CKP crank sensor.

6 cyl, 4 wheel ABS, 4.30 ratio 4x4, 6 cyl, 4 wheel ABS, 4.56 ratio
4x4, 6 cyl, 4 wheel ABS, 4.88 ratio there are a few options. you will need to figure it out or look at the code panel in the truck. if you want to figure it out. you will need to remove the cover from that axle and count the two ring gears and then divide the numbers to get the gear ratio. for example if one is 40 and the other was 11. would be 3.72. so here is the trick to counting the gears. they are covered in oil so have a pan ready when you pull the cover. and use a marker or crayon and mark a tooth on the gear ring. then count the gears and you will know where to stop when you get back to your mark. the little gear will be harder since its in the back. you might have to turn the wheels and you will need it in neutral and jack the rear end up. as always use jack stands to prevent damage to you or the truck..

1993 nh pajero 3 LTR running on 5 CYL

Hi Roy,
You say you have compression? is it well within the range of the other cylinders? if it is i.e. around 100 psi then possible bent or sticking valve? although you have a spark when plug earthed out of head is there possibly some foreign matter isolating the plug or is it the plug itself breaking/tracking down when in situe?
Failing all these, try a small amount of fuel direct into the cylinder to see if it fires briefly (Not too much just a couple of mls)
Maybe possible Head gasket failure? (I doubt it as all other cyls fine)
Can't think of anything else I would try,
Hope this helps!

What are the valve positions when cam gear is at tdc

hi from uk hope this will explain TDC valve positions ? when the crankshaft is at tdc this means that numbers 1 and 4 pistons are both at tdc but only one of the cylinders are on firing mode so if let us say in relation to 4cyl engine the fire order is 1 3 4 2 the c/shaft is at tdc ? but for which cyl ? 1 or 4 ? to check look if the camshaft mark is at its mark or check rotor arm ?if at 1 or 4 ? if it isat no1 cyl then both of the valves for that cyl are fully closed whilst no4 cyl valves are at the point of exhaust valve just closed and inlet just about to open this is correct for tdc number 1 cyl firing stroke ?ok so far ? now then if c/shaftmark is atTDC it may be number 4 cyl ready to fire? that is because the camshaft rotates at half speed to the crankshaft soyou need to rotate crank 360 deg to bring cyls 1 + 4 to tdc again then it will be cyl 1 at tdc on firing stroke along with rotor arm at No 1 plug lead and both valves for No 1 cyl will be closed (the cam lobes will be facing up whereas No 4 cyl valves will be pointing down ) hope this is clear for you to understand? if you look at any 4 cyl engine the sequense is the same for No 1 TDC but firing orders may change ie fords 1 2 4 3 is fire order they use as apposed to 1 3 4 2 ? OK? CURIOUSE why you asked? but best wishes and merry xmas from uk
