100 psi per cylinder is way too low--should be in the vicinity of 150-165 per cylinder
back firing indicates wrong firing order and as you have replaced the plugs etc check that you have the leads on the correct plugs in the correct order
the timing for the engine should be around the 10 degree btdc and not tdc

Changing 1998 s10 4 cylinder to 6 cylinder

You should find a doner truck. Lots of stuff will need to be changed over. Along with all of the stuff you have mentioned, transmission, drive line, fuel lines, fuel pump, radiator, fan, shroud, hoses, I think the heater box, you will need to look at another one, entire exhaust system. The list goes on,
Just so you know, before you go and buy just an engine and a wiring harness with pcm!
And you are looking for the like years. I think 96-2004. there are minor changes in the engines through the year ranges but if you are going to switch it all over then it will not be that big of a deal.

Running rich think its a fuel regulator problem

need alot more info....is this multiport fuel injection or does it have the two injectors in throttle body......... is the check engine light on has any one pulled codes.. while engine is at an idle.. look in throttle body and look at the fuel being injected... they should be clean looking fans...they have problems with those injectors... if you see one that is dripping and appears to be dumping in to much fuel in intake check injector and injector orings....also where the wires to the injectors exit the round spacer the wires have known to be pinched grounding the injector causing excessive fuel flow let me know

Service Engine soon light, codes P0301 and P0171, replace plugs

Hi,, Well the service engine light comes on when your car needs to be tuned up, this happens when the timing belt needs changing or nearing its life span. Basically it involves changing the belt (optionally >) engine oil, transmission fluid, radiator coolant, fuel injection and throttle body servicing, changing gas filter, air filter etc. Its to prevent damages to your car. After its serviced the mechanic will need to clear all error codes and reset the cars computer. Clearing the error codes is done with a diagnostic tool, to reset the cars computer , remove the negative battery pole and press the brak as far as it will go, wait 60 second release and reconnect the battery pole. Some vehicles may need to be caliberated if it has an electronic throttle body system

Changing my 2.6 4 cylinder to a 3.2 v6

to be honest i'm not sure if they fit but the only thing i know is than the wiring is not the same for the electronic fuel injection, you might have to replace the computer or may be part or the whole harness, you better check the wiring diagram firts before trying to go v-6
